Help: Best Valve Springs?

I'm having a mass confusing look at all the specs from different valve spring sets. They are all different except for the rate (lb/in). Does the higher the rate mean it is better and capable of redlining even higher? I'm confused, that mustn't be the case. The Ferrea High Pressure Dual springs is $250+ more then the Supertech High Tension Dual springs, but has a lot lower rating!


Supertech High Tension Dual: 426.7 lb/in
Supertech Dual: 317.5 lb/in
Supertech: 266.7 lb/in

Manley Dual: 359 lb/in
Manley: 294 lb/in

Ferrea Beehive: 342 lb/in
Ferrea High Pressure Dual: 305 lb/in
Ferrea Dual: 254 lb/in

Kiggly Beehive: 325 lb/in

If you are running or plan to run beefier cams a set of titanium ferrea valve springs should do it. I have never heard anything bad of them so i'd say go with it. And as for the higher the rate/ higher redline, i think you answered your own question.

If you want the best of the best go with the kiggly beehive springs. They will handle any rpm you want to through at them and last a long time not to mention they are still single springs which are a lot less harsh on the valvetrain like dual spring. But they are expensive at $450 a set.

Wow on that test the Brian Crowers fall up pretty short with the lowest power gains and had to be tuned with cam gears to even get good power out of them. The Kelford 272's had a good power gain and kept good drivability.

Ya going off of those tests, the Kelford's seem to yield very good peak gains with very little change in spool time or power delivery. After doing some research, it seems that my next valvetrain setup will be a set of Kiggly Beehives and some Kelford 272's.

I'm currently running BC 280s and I do both the quick spool fun and highway runs. My turbo starts spool in the 3800 rpm and is never ending so I'd like to raise the redline.

Well what are you looking to have your redline at? Keep in mind that you need some strong rods too when revving that high...what are you going to run?

Kiggly Beehive are the way to go, im using them on my set up. Had them replace the shit HKS ones

I have a stage iv block with forge internals and the Eagle H beam rods and the ARP 2000 rod bolts should be able to handle revving to at least 9500.

Im part of the beehive bandwagon myself. They have a lower mass at the retainer end allowing for better valve control. Also, they typically use a oval wire which allows greater valve lift before reaching coil bind and can use a lighter retainer due to a smaller diameter at the top of the coil. So, beehive FTW.

I would agre that any beehive would be the hot ticket, for reasons already shown. Myself , due to a budget adn not having the need to rev past 8500 RPM i was just fine with the BC stuff.

I had driven a friedns car with the similar (same lift) cams but made by some one else with the same BC springs i now have and they are just fine for me.. But you are asking for BEST.. so along with the others BeeHive FTMFW!!!!!!!!
