Ive been looking through alot of forums and threads ,and can't find any info on the ram air headlight kit /or conversion for a 2G. Ive seen a couple of pics in the gallery and id like to find one . If you have any info please let me know, thank you.

Looks pretty ghetto. I would just take out the headlight if you really want the ram air effect.

I don't think the local law enforcement would like to see a car with just one headlight. It's a compromise when you're "DAILY DRIVEN". As far as track mods, that's a given.

:thumb: for an ingenious and creative design.

love the car ... just don't like the ram air mod. Looks too ghetto and realistically I don't think it will do anything. The air goes through the hot turbo which will heat it up a bit and then to the intercooler which is supposed to cool the air to outside temp. With the ram air the air coming in might be a little cooler initially, but it will still get hot from the turbo and then cool back down to outside temp from the intercooler. Correct me if I am wrong....

cooler air to begin with helps...like ive mentioned its proven with supras that you typically gain 2-3mph traps when taking the headlight out....maybe on a heat soaked car you might be right, but on a nice cool day on a car thats cooled down, thats another story for sure.

i agree that it did used to look shitty without it trimmed..but since ive trimed it i think it looks much better...im not sure how it looks ghetto either, its not like some thing i just jammed in there..its competely sealed off and fully functional..no jagged edges, its all neatly done...when i hear ghetto i think of a car with knockoff cheaply made stuff, or things that are rigged in. this is none of that.

oh well..to each his own

I have been thinking about doing the same thing to my laser. I was gonna do a Buschur style, but build it my self out of 4 in metal tubing and put the filter where the stock fog light was.

Aerocomp has done some great stuff for Jesus's car, I love to see somebody push the boundaries of what has been done.

Well, for the money gritsak's "horn mod" would definatly be worth it since the car will be seeing mostly track conditions. I don't know if I would do it if the car was all street. I would want that bright (especially in the boonies where deer roam).

The fog mount filter reloacation looks nice too. I would deffinitlay choose this set up for the street, mainly to keep the bright. But what concerns me the most is water getting in the intake.

Im not gonna get into your guys fight, but I think they are both effective, but with the fog mount the air filter would always be cool, even when idleing since it is completly out of the engine bay. The bright mount would seem to be only effective if your moving. Thats why it would be keen for drag set up. That way cool air can pass through the horn at high speeds.

Again, I'm sure they are both effective, but the fog mount has the advantage of being cool at idle as well as when moving. But if the car is set up for drag then both share the advantage of having cool air moving over them at high speeds.

Ive seen a pic or two with holes goin through the headlight to the intake box. Are there any detailed pics or how tos that ive skipped over? I have an old headlight i wanna try it on. Do you think there will be a decent gain if i close it off real good? im also kinda worried bout driving in the rain if i did this cause rain would just be frced right in unless i rigged up some kind of plate for the air to go around. Thanks guys.

I have the box already made and all. But im wondering what kind of effects the hole through the headlight causing a ram air intake will have on the car.

No. Maybe 5hp at 200 miles an hour.

You can't get enough rain in to matter so long as you're above water level.

No idea how effective mine will work out to be, but here's what it ended up looking like.

that looks real good. did you mold it your self? Wonder if I could do that for a 2g.

Fully molded by me, puttied and sanded by a close friend. You can find all the info you need on it at my website.

In the classifieds about 6 months ago someone was selling a custom ram air headlight. It was the absolute CLEANEST mod I've ever seen for CAI or ram air on any dsm. Not only did it look awesome, the headlight remained completely functional! It was NOT the one with a plastic cover in the corner. It was actually fabbed through the headlight housing.

Thing is, I cannot find it no matter what search terms I use. Only one person on DSMlink forums remembers it. Anyone remember it on here or perhaps has a link?

I was wondering has anyone done it and if so do you have pics. I plan on doing this to my headlight as soon as I get my car back and I would like to see how some have done it. I will be using a piece of pvc pipe that will be flush with the light lens so that it will look clean and flush once done. For those that don't know what I am talking about here are pics:

You have to ask yourself if its worth it, but if it is I imagine some weather stripping around the "cut" of the lens should make it look pretty clean and that along with an internal bracket for the PVC and some black RTV to seal everything up should be good.

YEah, is it really worth it tho? is your car horse beat that much that you actually need it? Take some household hose that you use for vents n stuff and direct air from one of your bumper fents up the hole directly to the filter... IF your going to race, pull the headlight out... I seriously dont see why people would destroy thier headlights like that? Yeah they still have one good high beam... but why do it when you could do other things to achieve the same.

For the "Rocket Science" comment. I kinda know its not rocket science and I know its not hard to do at all. I didn't ask how to do it I simply asked who has done it and do they have pics?

For the "Is it really worth it?" comments. I have 2 sets of headlights and to me it will be worth modifying one to get better air flow where I need it... And switching headlights out wouldn't be too much of a hassle if I had to. By the way, the eclipse is not my daily driver so it won't matter to me anyway. I have 2 other vehicle to choose from.

S Ranger: Black pvc pipe is the plan

Mavisky: Any pics of the headlight bucket scoop thing? Sounds interesting
