I just noticed one of my header bolts is missing. Could I fix it temporarily by using a fitted bolt to screw right in? I'm trying to avoid taking the whole header off and installing the stud.. Any suggestions?

I lost two the last time I was doing maintenance..And It hasn't had any effect..I wouldn't reccomend not having the bolts on there, but as long as the rest are plenty tight you shouldn't have a problem..

Your talking about one of the manifold studs? Is it one of the end ones or middle? The end two on our 7bolts are larger than all the others. Is it broke off inside the head, or did it just come out? If it's broken off in the head it sucks. I highly doubt you will be able to extract the broken part of the stud with out taking the manifold off. You will then need to drill and tap the hole for a new stud. If you are lucky the extracting drill bits, they are the ones that are like a backwards drill bit, can get a bite and remove but your chances are about 1 in a 100. Exhaust studs can be a pain...

Does it leak around the broken/missing stud? If it's not leaking make sure the other studs/nuts are tight/torqued to spec until you can remove the header and get busy... It will need to be fixed though ### exhaust leaks can make all kinds of problems.

It's the one on the far left of the header.. I'll have to take a closer look to determine if it's broken inside of the head or not.. No leaks that I know of.. Thank you for your insight and knowledge! Much appreciated!
