Just got my head back from being taken care of by a machinist, he sent it back to me in parts and I don't know how to put it back together LOL. Figuring that out right now. My real question here is do I need the camshaft positioning sensor there? I believe he took it off and just left it off. I'm getting some mixed up info on whether or not the 97s get it LOL.

Believe I'm missing my camshaft positioning sensor here, do I need this for a 97? I'm getting mixed responses looking through the forms. Had the head worked on and it came back without one. Not sure if I sent it with one though LOL. What would this do to the car if it weren't on it?

I think I have this correct.

95-96 had a cam sensor on the front side of the intake sprocket mounted to the head.

97-99 had a cam sensor on the back side of the intake cam much like a 1G but using a different type of sensor housing.

So if you car is a 97 you want to look at the other side.
