I have searched and searched both the forums and my car. I found what looks to be the plug. It is connected to a large split loom running down the back of the intake manifold. The wire loom harness is bolted to the back of the intake manifold. The plug has two wires going in, black w/ other color and white. I have felt all along the back bottom of the motor between the intake manifold and the block. I can see the starter and feel the plugs going in to it. I can feel a threaded petrusion from the block. Actualy 3 of them. one on the left side of the block, one on the right side of the block, and one in the middle. The one in the middle seems to be plugged. It is smooth across the surface but has no connecter anywhere near it.
Can anyone help me with this? Does it sound like I am missing the sensor, and if i am which hole am I sapose to put a new one into?

Keep looking bud, it helps to have a light shining down the back of the block and to use a mirror. Look directly under the front runners, it might seem hidden by the design of the stock manifold. You may also be able to peer down between the #2 and #3 runners and possibly see it. I can do that with mine but I do not have a bracket and am on a different manifold.

This post has the best picture I could find and yes it should be the middle one.

If you can't find one like you say it's probably missing.:(

:thumb: That is a realy good picture. Thanks. I am positive that I dont have the knock sensor. I found the plug for it and felt all along the back side of the motor and there is nothing in any of those spots.
I did notice some water on the back side of the motor. I could not feel any leaks. must only happen when the car is running. I dont have the charcoil cannister and the Ac has been removed. There is still a line for the ac that comes from the firewall that is hooked up and just sitting on the back side of the motor. Do you think that is the culpret for the water, or do i have another problem?

Are you losing any coolant? Maybe it's time to do a cooling system pressure test. If your a/c system isn't hooked up there is no reason for any water to be coming out of your evaporator.

I'm going to agree with you and say that your knock sensor is indeed missing in action. As you can see in my picture the knock sensor has a wire coming off of it and it's not that hard to find. It seems you've been very through in your search so it looks like its time to start shopping. The 1g knock sensor is part # MD141510.

$89 from JNZTuning: OEM Knock Sensor (1G DSM) : JNZ Tuning

$97 from ExtremePSI: EXTREME PSI : Your #1 Source for In Stock Performance Parts

$99 from STM: STM: 90-99 OEM MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE PARTS | DSM | 4G63

As far as the water on the back of the motor, you are going to want to find out where that's coming from ASAP. Clean it up really good and monitor it along with your coolant levels and/or do a leakdown test. The remaining A/C can be removed as it is completely useless.

Hope this helps!

Yah that does help. I will clean it up and keep an eye on it. Everyone is talking about a bracket on the back of the intake mani. I see in your pics that you have a bracket. Mine does not. Is that going to be a problem? Maybe yours is an aftermarket manifold?

Mine is the stock 1g manifold and that is the stock manifold support bracket. Many people have removed them with no issues so I think you will be ok. I personally prefer to have it.

What is that connected to the intake bracket , with the Mits part number on it?. I noticed that mine is on the fire wall next to the battery? Also on the pully side attached to the main harness that runs down the manifold I have a single wire with a 1 pin plug on it. Its just sitting there not connected to anything. It is a black wire with a yellow stripe. thought maybe it went to the ac line or something but seeing how different my car is, I am starting to wonder. Thanks for your comments by the way.:thumb:

That is the fuel injector resistor pack. Turbo DSMs use low impedence fuel injectors in combination with a resistor pack. From the factory it is mounted on the firewall like on your car. I relocated mine to the I'M bracket just to get it out of sight and clean up my engine bay.
