Have the chance to buy a Dejon Modified BOV but it is missing the switch

Would it still work without this switch?

Any idea what would happen if I don't have the switch?

Jus close off that fitting.

Ok, so the stock vacuum line goes in the same place as it did on the BOV and the other one has to be plugged with something? I was reading you could leave it open.

More details would be appreciated.

Looping the two lower ports should restore the BOV to the factory normal operation. The upper port is unchanged even if you had the switch, it still runs to the throttle body/IM.

Thanks for the response, but not sure what you mean. You say 2 lower ports, but I only see 2 ports on the BOV.

Am I supposed to loop these together with a tee or something and then connect them to the line that used to go to the only port that used to be on the TB?

That looks like one of my Dodge Garage Modded 1G BOV's....I use the same fitting at the base.

If you want normal operation, hook the lower (small) nipple up to a boost source close to the compressor cover of the turbo. If you want it to stay stiff, leave that nipple unhooked.

Thanks for the responses...so wait...and maybe I have this wrong but...

If I hook it up for normal operation, then it would be no better than a 1g uncrushed BOV for holding boost?

If I want to leave it stiff it would be no diffrent than a blockoff plate?

I probably have this all wrong, but I am just curious.

Why not just fab a blockoff plate and simplify things and save a pound while at it?

I probably just have this all wrong in my mind.

I think it still quite a bit different than a blockoff plate on your UICP. It still opens.

...but if the bottom nipple is left unused, what forces it to act different than a stock uncrushed BOV?

Seems like no boost leaks under pressure though...hmmm.
 
Sounds like you don't understand how the BOV works normally.

You know that the valve is connected to a diaphragm which moves opening and closing the vent.

The diaphragm separates the upper and lower chambers of the BOV.

In the upper chamber a spring rests on the diaphragm holding it and the valve down. There is a pressure port in the upper chamber that works to either add to or subtract from the pressure on the upper side of the diaphragm depending on the pressure at the port.

The lower chamber is normally connected via a port in the base of the BOV to the intercooler piping.

When the throttle is open the pressure in the upper chamber = the pressure in the lower chamber + the spring pressure. When the throttle closes the intake manifold goes to vacuum as does the upper chamber. the lower chamber still has the pressure that was in the intercooler piping just before the throttle closed. The diaphragm has vacuum pulling against the spring and the pressure on the lower side pushing so it opens the BOV pretty quickly which dumps the pressure in the intercooler piping and the lower chamber so now you only have vacuum working against the spring which may be enough to hold the BOV open or not.

Blocking the lower port via this mod keeps the lower chamber at atmospheric all the time so the BOS doesn't open quick a quickly when vacuum is applied to the upper but vacuum and the pressure on the valve face in the UICP should open the BOV.
