Okay, I am getting ready to order a 2.3 stoker setup from SLOBO and was wondering how much you guys paid in machine work. The block is already at the machine shop, just got all cleaned up and magnafluxed :).. But before I ordered the setup i wanted to ake sure i had enough money inorder to get the machine work done... I don't want order this and have to wait another couple months in order to even get the machine work started..
But thanks for the input in advanced guys..

Zac

Same as you would if you were building a 2.0L. Nothing special needs to be done. Just cleaning, decking, bore and assembly if they are doing it.

Well, pretty much to the block just geting the cylinder walls bored out to .020 over.. but other than that, just a basic install. I know that the block has to be machined for clreance for the crank. I was wondering mainly because (i didnt figure it would be too bad) but I was browsing the other day online and the one website i looked at said to expect up to 1500 in machine work.. To me i thought it was a little expensive for machine work, so thats mainly why i asked..

Eventually the head is going to be sent down to get new springs retainers and everything plus port and polishing with some 1mm over valves ;)..

after searching for hours i kinda got the answer to my question ..but im curious they day i go to the machine shop with my parts and block for the 2.3l stroker kit what actually am I gonna request they do .. besides "put it together"

i would recoomend if you are spending all this money on this that it would be perfect. i would personally ask them to make sure that everything is decked and level, the rotating assembly is balanced, to check the structural integrity of the block. closely examine for stress features or cracks (personally a new block/build ide have hot tanked and dressed while its out). also if every part you have is up to spec and there are no clearance issues. (wrong sized pistons or even rings) every shop SHOULD do this but most just do what you tell them and not take the extra time

im alittle nervous about the build. i wondering if this 2.3L build is more involved then it seems this is what ive gathered:

parts i will need just bottom end:

100mm cranks (4g64 or Eagle)
Stroker pistons(weisco)
Rods(eagle)
main and rod bearings
gaskets ect ect

does all of this just bolt up(machine shop doing the work).. i plan to leave it STD size piston?

How do you figure .020 over will give you a 2.3?

i dont recall him stating that boring .020 over would give him a 2.3. obviously he knows to get the 100mm crank, since that's all that's needed (along with bearings and the correct pistons) to give him the .3 in displacement.
