So after struggling and trying to figure out why my car runs like crap, I started noticing how beat my whole engine harness is and I figure I might as well fix most of it. I have been doing some research and from what I have read 1990 dsms are the odd year and most things are different with them for the most part like transfer cases (learned that the hard way). I am wondering would it be possible to swap for a 1991 or a 1992 harness and if that is possible how hard is it. I was gonna just try to salvage mine but in the injector part of the harness it started to arc and make sparks which is causing my car to run like complete crap.

i just did the same swap. the main thing is to get a matching harness (abs,manual/auto) the engine harness is a quick swap. what most of the write ups dont tell you is the following

the 90 cas plug is different
the 90 coil pack is different
the 90 ptu is different
the 90 iac motor is different( plug is the same and you can use it but it is different from 92-99 style)

if you can grab the 91-94 parts it will make this easier or you can swap plugs on the harness to reuse your old components. I switched every harness out of my 90 for a 92 just so i wouldnt have to deal with the 90 specific parts.

Nice that makes me feel alot better. I guess I am gonna have to do some junk yard hunting LOL. I already have a 92 trans and transfercase. Just wondering is the harness gonna be hard to swap?

Not to hard, Just label all the connectors as you unplug them if your not familiar with where everything sits in the engine bay.

for just the engine harness it will be like 1 hour to unplug label and remove the harness and about the same to reinstall the new one properly.
