Picked up a Holset H1E (58mm/64mm) for a great deal the other day. Grabbed up a new BEP .55 Mitsu housing and FP race manifold. Stock 7 bolt engine aside from BSE, new timing components, valve springs and ARP's. Any idea how spool will be? How much power is possible with this setup? I understand the exhaust housing will likely be the choke point, still capable of 400 whp through the auto? I want to keep the stock torque converter.

I had a friend in highschool that ran an hx40 on his 1g, his spool starting in the upper 3k range into 4k rpms. The 6 bolt heads and intake manis have larger ports then the 2g heads and intake. Do you have a mls head gasket? Whats your fuel setup? What are you using to tune? How much boost do you want to achieve? What style inter cooler do you have? Upgraded clutch? All these are factors that may not allow you to reach 400hp. All simple but contributing factors. That fp mani shouldnt restrict you until a much higher power output. I have the same exhaust mani and fp told me they have seen them on builds access of 600hp regularly. As far as the torque converter goes im not an automatic guy but i do recall hearing them last into the 300s for torque.
