Gsx head on a n/a block with turbo, and questions!

Alright guys so here i have a little project on a 1g for my next paycheck:D, ok so im planing to drop a 1g gsx head into a n/a block obviously (fwd) converted to turbo. Alright so my question is the fallowing i know that some components from the n/a head wont fit into the gsx head so i would like to know witch are these components im going to need? and also since everything is going to be out should i just go a little further for pistons and rings? Is doing this worth on a fwd or should i just get an awd?
 
The heads are the same. The cams are different. The difference in the bottom end is the N/A block has weaker pistons, rings, and no oil squirters.

Yea of course i know the head are the same, i know im not the first dsmer in the world to do this kind of build. Anyways i know the cams are different, also heard about the valve been smaller on n/a head? Also whats the recomended compression pistons for this project and rings? And guys is this swap going to be worth hp/tq gain and output?
 
the valves,springs,retainers are the same, for turbo or na and they are the same for the 1g head and the 2g head

why are you swapping heads? bent valves? warp?
 
The heads are the same. The cams are different. The difference in the bottom end is the N/A block has weaker pistons, rings, and no oil squirters.

The pistons in the na block are not weaker, the difference is the crown ring sits higher on the piston, making it more susceptible to spark knock. The compression in the na block is also higher witch will let you make more power with less boost up to a point, then you will have to drop the compression if you want to get serious. All and all it will make for a good street car with the right supporting mods Both the heads are the same. If you had a non turbo manual the cams from the non turbo are bigger nothing crazy though.

Reason for swapping heads its the fallowing, the car its converted to turbo and has a n/a head, the gsx head i bought for 80$ has 3 bent valves i heard its not that expensive to fix? and also heard awd head help alot in torque output witch its great for fwd since were lacking on torque, i want to boost looking forward for safe boosting at about 24psi so like i said my plans are: GSX head, turbo cams(not sure witch), forged pistons overbore+rings, Cometic HG.. since you said valve,springs,retainers and all the components are the same that saves me some bucks, and looking forward for a gt35 later this year.. Any thoughts?
 
all the 1g heads are the same, turbo, non turbo, automatic, there is no difference in the ports. It will not matter if the head came off a turbo awd, fwd, non turbo, 5sp or auto. The only difference is they put different cams in different heads, they are all cast the same all the valves all the valve springs. The only way head swap you can do is with a 2g head where the ports are smaller and better for street application.

Awsome:hellyeah:, i get your point so since your telling me this, what upgrades would you recomend me for safely boosting at around 20-24 psi?
 
you said already that you were going to swap the internals in the na block with turbo ones? You already have a gm maf and MAF-T. So 650injectors or 720cc that gives you room to grow a wally 255 fuel pump a palm logger at minimum. is it going on the car that is your avatar?
 
Good composite Head gasket.
ARP's Head bolt kit.
Autometer boost Gauge.
A decent MBC
I also suggest a Wide band, AFPR

Well to be exact forged pistons overbore comp :8:5:1 and rings, 272 cams, Cometic Mls HG, since im staying with the same head maybe eagle rods? And yea this is going on the same car in the picture witch its a real tsi but the guy i bought from for some reason had a N/A blockWTF. Anyways yea i have 3'' MAF+T (LATEST VERSION) setup might be going for 660cc injectors, 255 fuel pump. Would this do the job?
 
If your going with 272 make sure you change the valve springs. yeah that sounds like a good setup but you are definitely going to need some logging software pocket logger or mmcd<---free software http://mmcdlogger.sourceforge.net/ i would also suggest a fuel pressure regulator and a fuel pressure gauge.

This is gonna start a huge argument ROFL but you may wanna look into another inter cooler setup LOL. That core being as tall as it is is going to be mostly covered by the bumper thus not doing much for you i.e. filling a big core for little benefit. Also the shot route piping would be better for a 16g(alot of people say it matters alot say it doesn't) but most prefer the short route and a core that isn't that tall! unless you have a 2g with the big bumper opening and a larger turbo.

ok waiting for the big frontmount crowd to come and crush me with statistics :D

As for the data logging software i need to work on that it looks kind complicated or maybe its just me:aha: . Anyways i have a manual fuel pressure setup with gauge and fittings, and dont worry LOL i made sure enough air is getting into it i made a cut on the bumper and more then half of the core is outLOL . And i already seen this short/long route discussionROFL i might be short routing the piping for preferences, anyways sometime late this year im 100% sure this dsm is going to make an encounter with a GT35 :hellyeah:
 
Palm loggers are easy it just takes a lil bit to get used to them. Once you get one you'll understand LOL i use mmcd all the time just have to get a palm pilot and cable cheap + free software good to go, the hard part is finding a computer these days with a bd9 pin serial on them LOL

Well ill see about that:hellyeah:, btw (valve springs) witch one would you recommend me?
