Greddy rs bov

Ok so I bought an rs off eBay, real deal bov not a knockoff. I took it apart to find the seller taped the diaphragm because of a hole. I also noticed the springs, one was bigger than the other. I know this is supposed to have 2, I just want confirmation these are the right springs. Also, anyone have a diaphragm they'd like to sell

Hope you didn't pay much as the RS is complete CRAP! Mine stopped leaking after my 2nd diaphragm alone with a RTVing EVERY contact point inside the housing and diaphragm.

Yes, 2 springs and they look right. You'll need a new diaphragm as yours WILL leak and prob will leak after the new diaphragm as well.

Thanks for the info. You rtv'd the diaphragm in place? Also the cheapest place I found for a diaphragm is extremepsi is there any other places to look?

I coated both sides of the diaphragm and every static contact point to help prevent any leaks. The diaphragm needs to move to operate properly as it's only a seal to prevent air from entering or escaping the IC pipe.

Look into getting the NGR diaphragm. It's thicker and apparently stronger as well. I'm not positive they have one for the RS model but if they do I would suggest using it instead of an OEM Greddy diaphragm.

Wow...Just wow. I would get my money back and/or file a suite against him (pending where you bought it) for false advertising.

You may not need both springs. You are to tune these valves using the springs for the boost level you're looking to run as well as the amount of vacuum your engine draws. Too much spring tension will not allow the valve to open fully or for the correct amount of time.

I vote to file a Paypal claim to get all or some of your money back, then ditch the whole Greddy idea and get a nice 1G BOV. The one on my TSi FWD is 18 years old with 130k on it and still on the original diaphragm. Obviously Mitsu knew what they were doing as they designed the valve without the ability to be serviced.

onefast2gdsm - You'll have classifieds access in about 9 days, and if you bought that BOV from a member here, I'd definitely recommend that you leave him/her appropiate feedback. I'd also try to get them to refund your money or buy you a replacement diaphragm.

Paul, Justin is correct with the spring assessment. I've tried on my stock setup using both springs and it was just too much spring pressure regardless of where the set screw was located. Once a spring was removed to reduce the opposing force then I no longer had flutter.

However, we all know the RS isn't the ideal BOV to be using and I'm saving up money to get myself a nice TiAL.

I told him to leave it and he didn't listen. I want to go that route but haven't seen any at reasonable prices. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places.

Also, I hope it didn't mess up my compressor wheel, my Turbo had no shaft play before putting it on. I took it right off after I went for a drive and to tune the bov. I have yet to check shaft play I will check before the weekend.

Just like Scott posted above, I had the same issue with a Type S knockoff on a customer's car. The valve just wasn't opening properly, even with the screw backed all the way out. I took the valve apart to make sure diaphragm was intact, and when I put it back together I used only one spring....the stiffer of the two (can't remember if it was the larger or smaller spring).

After that the valve snapped open like it should, much like a 1G valve, yet still had the Greddy "whistle" or "sneeze" or whatever the hell the ricers are looking for.

Just an update. The sellers name is soza127. He got back to me saying that he bought it 3 years ago from another seller on eBay and NEVER used it. I find this hard to believe. So, I sent it back and I am waiting for my refund.

On a lighter note, jusmx141 was kind enough to sell me a real good looking 1g bov that was his spare. Thanks a lot man I owe you one.
