ok... so i sold my 1995 gst last year and now i want to upgrade to a gsx and i have the funds to do so but i am looking for the best deal possible. i found this one on craigslist that is a 1995 5 speed with 116k miles on the body. the mods he has listed are as follows:

Low mile 6 bolt swap
HKS cams
Evo Big 16g turbo
Large FMIC
3" turbo back with Magnaflow muffler
Greddy BOV
EPROM ECU
Lowered on Tokico Blues
ACT 2600 Clutch
A Pillar gauge pod with Boost/AFR/Pyrometer
97+ front end
OEM black housing headlights
2gb side skirts
Blitz turbo timer

he also says that the radiator, head gasket, most major external engine gaskets, belts, plugs, wires, and coils have all been replaced recently, also the clutch and transmission were done over the winter and it looks like its in good condition, but he says it doesnt run because the cam angle sensor needs to either be replaced or rewired. i have been looking around for a while and have talked to several different people but this one seems like a good deal i just want to know if this is something that could be done easily at home or if it would have to be taken to the shop, so my questions to you guys are 1.) do you think its a good deal? 2.) how much of a pain is it to replace a cas?

your inputs will be appreciated

in my opinion a gsx is always a good deal. Here is a diagram for the 1gCAS in a 2g. And if the CAS is bad you can get one from the junker with no problems.

Yes, I was thinking that also. Does he have any reciepts or paperwork for the work that he mentioned. From what I heard the CAS isn't that hard to change out.

How much is he asking for it? And what shape is the body in? And look it over EVERYWHERE for rust. These cars are notorious for rust.

Check compression, turbo shaft play, look it over for rust, see if you can get paperwork for the things done to it... if it all checks out and you think you can fix it then get it. Well, depending on how much he's asking for it. Just look it over really well. I always get suspicious when people sell cars that only have this one little easy to fix thing wrong with them. If it was an easy and cheap part to replace then why don't they do it themselves and sell the car for a lot more?

he is asking 2500 obo so ill offer him lower and by the way its lookin he will probably go down. he says in the ad that the Right rear 1/4 panel has about a silver dollar sized 'rough spot' where it looks like the car was egged previously. It has one small nickel sized ding in one of the 1/4 panels but other than that it's very clean and straight. Interior is in great shape, save a couple wear marks on the drivers side seat bolsters. No rips tears or burns anywhere in the leather.

and i would put some pictures on here but i dont know the url for them... so heres the link to the ad 1995 Mistubishi Eclipse GSX

But another option is this one... http://http://bgky.craigslist.org/cto/1882454828.html and he said he would sell it to me for 4000 but he said there is a lifter tick so let me know what you guys think about this one too

Like is said above, check the car over good. I have bought and sold a lot of used cars all as a private seller. Everyone and I mean EVERYONE wants to tell you "IT HAS A NEW ENGINE" or parts etc. don't believe it unless they have receipts, or you can see it.

I would start offering him $1500 for it, it's a fair price and it gets things started. I know you want the car, but try to not care, Honestly there are better deals to be had 99% of the time, you just have to be patient. With those parts, $2500 isn't fair, but every $1 you don't spend now you can spend to make it faster.

Good luck with your possible purchase.

The pictures from craiglist aren't very detailed and very low quality. Looks like he installed a new Valve cover on the car. The CAS shouldn't be to hard to do with a hayne's manual or maybe check Vfaq.com. I would definitely low ball him with the $1500 price tag for this car since it doesn't run. Ask for the reciepts and review them. If it was truely just the CAS would be a good deal. :thumb:
