i recently fell into a free complete set of unorthodox racing pulleys( crank, power steering, and water pump.) i was wondering if there are any gains when using these and if i should install them. i heard that the crank pulley isnt properly weighted and the stock one maybe better. please enlighten me

They are great pulleys! Lighter and they use the same belts. I payed good money for mine, just use an oem(or fluidampr) crank pulley, it's a harmonic dampner and you don't want that aluminum crank pulley.

okay cool thats what i was thinking as well...oem is better at the crank. will a 1990-1994 crank pulley work?

I also picked up a set of these awhile ago for dirt, brand new. I wanted to have them just for the reason of how good they look. I don't expect them to do anything and I won't be using the crank pulley. It wil become just something to look at.

The crank pulley is where you get all the benefit of freeing up HP. Use it. I've used them on many vehicles with no issues.

The crank pulley is an iffy deal for a bolt on and go deal, no rubber isolater to absorb engine harmonics. This could also have a more drastic effect if a BSE has been dine also

Now If you were doing a full bottom end rebuild and were having the rotating assembly spun balanced, to inculde the the racing pulley and elywheel and pressure plate, then it may be ok.

I have not looked into it nor reaserched it, So I will not advise you one way or the other to use it.
Only to use caution if you do decide to.

Im running the unorthadox crank pulley with no balance shaft. I havent noticed any excessive vibration into the 8k range. I can't speak for anything beyond that.

i also have the unorthodox crank pulley and it worked fine for me also im going to continue running the crank pulley with my new build also . the main benefit is the fact that anything that could be lightened up in the rotating assembly will free up some power and allow you to rev faster hence lightened flywheels same princible

okay thanks guys! i have to use them anyways because i got rid of my stock set. but hey, i dont see any harm in using them until i find another stock crank pulley.

Oem crank pulley is great as long as you have AAA...I went with Fluidamper...I needed one that would last the life of my car..The last time an OEM one failed, it was at night, and raining its azz off..No more..
