good choice for racing seats.

I'm sure if it was welded all the way around it wouldn't have a problem. I had bucket seats that had mounting points on it at one point in time.

I have a pair of NRG racing seats, but dont have brackets or sliders yet...

How should i go about mounting them in my car? such as the different eom bracking mounting height, and the auto seatbelts??

please help

You are going to need brackets, it is up to you if you want sliders. Some brackets allow you to bolt up the OEM buckle to your seats. If it allows you to do that you arent going to have a problem with the seatbelts.

Many of the bracket options for our cars have welded tabs for the seat belt buckle. If your running harnesses with a cage I would really suggest finding mounting points from the actual floor, although its kind of hard in the 2g.

That said I have seen with my own eyes multiple cars with rollover accidents on track that had their harneses bolted to their seat mounts and not have a problem.

I also have a set of driver and passenger brackets for a bottom mount seat for 2gs for sale....:p Oh and they have the bracket that allows direct bolt on of seat buckle...

Either event is fine Englishtown is much closer

As for brackets that was another reason I went Corbeau because their brackets need no modification you just bolt and go.

Im not even going to pass inspection with my setup.... This may have to be done old fasion LOL j/k. Yea you are close to where I used to live and Im always with chillin at e-town and etc.

As was mentioned previously - only install a harness if you have a proper roll cage. Not a roll bar with two door bars, a proper roll cage. It's difficult to use sliders in these cars as it takes a way a bit of headroom. Better to mount via proper brackets directly through the floor with proper backing washers and bolts.

I love my OMP seat, would suggest this brand or anything FIA approved.

Stay far FAR far away from the 3A Racing vinyl seats. they are too wide that the doors dont want to shut all the way unless you slam the door, the vinyl is cheap and tears and the threads like to come out as if theyre getting paid too.

I think it's been mentioned in this thread, but in the meantime pick up a CGLock if you're just looking to be better held into your seat. I would say that the CG Lock has been the best mod for the track I have in my CTS-V. As for the Talon though, fixed back Corbeaus, 6 point harness and full cage. There's a lot of room above my head, but I don't have a headliner so I'm not sure how much less it would be with one.

I think that is the best advice given in the whole thread. You just can't go wrong with a seat that is FIA approved.

I'd really have to agree with that. In finding Racing Seats for your vehicle, you must, and I mean must check it if it is FIA approved. In this way, things would be safer for your riding needs.

Are you guys putting these seats in a 1G? I have a 93 Eclipse with no interior and the sunroof frame cut out that needs a seat so I can have the cage put in. For reference I'm 6' with a long torso, so with the stock seat and a helmet on I was slightly sticking out the sunroof. I would "raise the roof", but that won't help since there is no room to raise the cage.

I had hoped to use the Kirkley seat from our last car, but at 21" wide it is way too wide to fit if mounted low.

So a few questions:
  1. How do you get the 20" Corbeau FX1 in? Is it mounted high? If mounted low I measure 18" wide near the front in a 1G.
  2. With a 20" seat don't you sit fairly far off center from the wheel?
  3. How is clearance from the cage by your head? My door is cut out so I'm not worried about side clearance.

I'm looking at the narrowest Kirkley at 15" and if I mount it low and as far to the center as possible it will still be a bit off center, but best roof and cage clearance. Works for me, but the wider drivers will be unhappy.

Thoughts? opinions?

Thanks,
Todd

I had side mounting brackets welded to the floor and trans tunnel. The FX1 fit pretty easily, but I had to hammer the transmission tunnel in about an inch to get a sparco pro adv in there. I'm 6' tall and I had the seat as low as I could get it and leaned back a bit to be able to get decent clearance from the roof. That said, my helmet was still pretty close to it. I didn't notice anything being off center.

Long story short, it's not the easiest, but it can be done :)

Thanks for the response.

If you head is close to roof then isn't it as high or possibly higher than the roll cage hoop? I'm afraid of failing tech since I won't have time to fixed before the race.

Thanks again,
Todd

My cage is pretty close to the roof and is a little bit above my helmet. I can still hit it with the top/side of the helmet though. I could mount the seat a little bit lower if I really wanted to. I just wanted to get as much visibility as I could, since this is was a rally car and that's pretty important when flying down roads you've never been on before :)

My codriver seat was way back and low, his head is definitely well below the cage.

I have a set of Corbeau Forzas. I love the seating position without the sliders. With the sliders I sit too high to be able to wear a helmet and have legal head room. The drivers seat sits perfect for me at 5'9". They are snug but not too tight with my 38 inch waist. I do suggest the lumbar support for these seats though. Well worth the cost.
