I was wondering what I all needed to turn my 420A, into a boosted DSM.
And how much do you think would this cost me?
I got a pretty good Idea, and I got a Garrett turbo sitting in my garage.:hellyeah:
I think its a TD05H or something like that.
I was planning on rebuilding that turbo, and Buying a stock GST turbo set up at the bone yard.
So What do I got to pull out of the bone yard GST?

Anywhere from $600 to $4,000.

If it says "TD05H," then it's not a Garrett turbo. The T25's were the only Garrett turbochargers that came stock on DSM's.

Practically nothing will be compatible between a GS-T and an RS/GS. You'll need to buy almost everything aftermarket.

These are some pretty basic questions. Try doing a search and you'll find more detailed answers to your questions.

I was looking at the wrong Turbo, sorry. But I do have a Garrett turbo, needing a re-build.

Anywhere from $600 to $4,000.
Keep in mind I was looking at pulling parts off a car at the junk yard.
Like the BOV, Wastegate, IC pipes, and the FMIC.

And I was also wondering-Is im only going to run about 7-8psi, would I have to upgrade the fuel pump, and Injectors?

I'm assuming you found a modded car at the junkyard being that you want to take off the wastegate and FMIC? Stock BOV and sidemount will definitely get you started, stock IC pipes and wastegate (well wastegate actuator) are kind of pointless for you to grab

Fuel pump - yes, get a walbro 255lph high pressure pump

Injectors - no (although you will be reaching their limits at 8psi (depending on turbo size)

First of all you need to look in our local craigslist for a 4g63...Theres that 97 gst in mad town with bad auto tranny for 1000$..

Second of all nick..You need to quit wasting your money on stupid purchases, and obviously fake "front mount" made out of mesh, and held on by batttery tray..ROFL

I think a 190 walbro would do just fine for him a 255 is overkill.

Well you're wrong. The 420A isn't a 4G63... FPR overrun isn't an issue. 420A's with FMU's can use all the fuel pressure they can get. Please familiarize yourself with the third point to keep in mind before posting, "don't try to help if you don't know the answer - bad advice can be worse than no advice (no "I think" or "I guess" or "I've heard")."

I still ned the 'Shopping List' guys.:p

As far as being seroius about making your list... Search. Your not the first to turbo an N/A car. Especially on here. So why dont you search on ebay or here in the classifieds to find what you need. There are some n/a turbo kits out there on ebay I guarentee. So put in the effort, and look it up yourself.

As far as the pump, I was going to say stock turbo fp. But As the Mod said, you can use all the pressure you can get. My list of what I KNOW you will need are these:

SAFC
turbo - doesnt have to be big, your only pushing 5-10 lbs.
fuel pump - stock turbo or walbro 255, your choice
injectors - 390cc or 450cc should treat you well, especially with the safc
logger
smic - your going to need custom pipes
bov - you can use a 2g since you wont be boosting high, but you might as well get a 1g
mbc

Guru's, Mods, and Champions... feel free to add to this starter list.

Good luck with the build, a lot of fab work will be involved.

Shopping list: GST or GSX

No SAFC
No injectors

To run <8psi all you need is a walbro 255lph hi pressure pump (as already stated and no, the stock turbo pump won't work, I've tried, the pressures we need are just too high) and a 12:1 fmu as far as fuel goes

Your recommendation of a 1g bov is good, as is the SMIC if he's really on a budget, otherwise, FMIC kits on ebay are quite reasonable

IMO the most crucial part is getting the right exhaust manifold, then somehow modifying your stock exhaust to work. Finding a route for FMIC pipe shouldn't be that hard of a task. Your a DSM'r, get that stuff to fit! Then tuning is definitely an important part.
Here's a quick list:
FMIC/SMIC
Intake
Turbo
Manifold
New Downpipe or Modify stock one
Safc II
Injectors
Fuel Pump
External WG if the turbo doesn't have one
MBC
Boost Gauge
Oil Lines/Gaskets

I don't want to specify any size injectors or fuel pump due to my lack of knowledge on 420a's.

Edit: According to cs82685, the SAFC II is not needed.

Please 4g63 people STOP saying Safc

It is not needed, it is not useful.

If you own a 4G63 and have no knowledge of the 420A platform, please become acquainted with this thread before posting here:

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/420...-read-before-you-post-420a-forums-warned.html

I understand this was directed to all 4g63t owners in the thread but I was not persuading him to buy a 4g63t powered DSM. I simply gave him a list as to what he needs to turbocharge his 420a, and was incorrect about the tuning device. If you look at the post, I edited saying that the SAFC II is not needed.

If you have to ask for a shopping list, you're not ready to go turbo.

That being said.. you NEED the following:

manifold
wastegate
turbo
fuel management (12:1 FMU will do up to 8psi)
filter
oil feed/return lines + modify oil pan for return
turbo pipes + couplers

On the "you're an idiot if you don't buy these" list are:
intercooler (SMIC/FMIC)
additional piping + couplers for IC
BOV

and you can take it from there
