Okay, i've been trying to read up about the GM MAF and haven't gotten the greatest clear cut answers, and since i'm a newb, I still won't always understand everything, but i'm trying to learn. I'm looking to order a VRSF FMIC Kit and it has the option of the GM MAF, a few questions...

1) Installing this with my IC Piping, does it mean I can eliminate the MAF on the intake?
2) I've read with the GM MAF, you don't need to recirculate, is this true?
3) When ordering, it gives the options of a 3" and a 3.5", is there a certain size or my car or is it just personal preference?

Sorry for sounding very dumb but need these answered directly. Thanks everyone.

3.) is it giving the opition for the size of the GM MAF??
(Which im more than sure thats what its for!)

But Yes 3in is plenty of space for air flow, inless your plans are to go BIG!
You shall Select 3in and get a 3 in GM MAF to go with it! you will also need to get either a MAF Translator for use or V3 DSM Link to use the GM MAF!!
Yes you may vent but most will say not too, due to the fact it helps spool the turbo between shifts and helps more with compression surge!

Good luck

1)yes,you can eliminate the MAF on the intake pipe, but youre only moving it to another part of the intake, most likely the upper intercooler pipe.unless you run a speed density setup youre always gonna have to run a maf somwhere to accurately calculate the air flow entering the engine
2)yes,this is true, because the maf is right before the throttle plate.relocating the maf directly before the throttle plate ensures that the maf is only measuring the air about to go into the engine.any loss of air (such as a vented bov)is not being calculated, therefore it wont throw of the pcm measurements and cause the car to run rich.if the maf comes before the bov, then you must recirculate.if it comes after the bov, you can vent if you want.unmetered air leaving the engine will act as a vacuum leak and will run an engine rich.
3)its personal preference.think of the maf as a type of restriction when it comes to the intake charge.the bigger the diamter, the more air flow can get past it faster.although im not 100% on that cause i know bigger diameters will decrease intake velocity so maybe someone can help with that

2.5 inch GM MAF? :S

ROFL

hahaha, a 2.5 inch GM MAF? thats ffunny.he's definately referrering to his pipe size.

and yes,you will have to run at least a maf translator to run that setup.

That is why i have the ":S" face next to it.. they don't have 2.5" gm maf (that i know of) and i DID know this...

and Yes with v2.5 dsm link, you will still need the MAFT!
But all you have to do is hook it up.. no need to try and dail in with the enuring MAFT, you will fine tune your fuel trims through dsm link like you normally would!
