gm maf

hey guys i need some advise i bought a ETS street FMIC (comes with gm maf, harness, hks bov my question is can i use the gm maf that on the piping before the bov? and leave my stock one unpluged? btw my car is 1997 Eagle Talon tsi awd is mostly stock but i got hks hi-power cat back exhaust and Injen air intake

Did you also get the maf translator to be able to properly run the gm maf? if you dod then its just a matter of wiring it up. If not then you will either need to pick one up or still run the stock mass airflow.

oh k i though the one got was it, as you can see on the floor the wiring and the box i thought that was maf translator so its some thing else i have to buy? right can tell where or how much is it?

That might be it. hard to tell from the pic, it should say maf translator right on the front of it.

If it is the box then its just a matter of wiring it in correctly and plugging the gm maf in and a plug that goes to the stock maf.

In a ideal world your gonna run the GM maf after the bov, that way it is not metering air the comes in and gets shot out. If you meter before the bov your gonna have stalling issues between shifts and what not because it sees the air coming in and doesnt know you vented it to atmosphere.

k so the piping should be like this ( Throttle Body ,,, bov .. gm maf and down to the intercooler) correct? and the box i have doesn't say any thing but its looks like maf translator pictures i have seen on google and it has wiring as well that connects to gm maf and connection to the plug to ecu i believe that what it connects to right?

It's hard to tell from the pic. But air should flow from turbo - FMIC- BOV- GM maf- TB. If it's not it is just a matter of undoing those T-bolt clamps loose and put it in the right order. But pay attention to the arrows on the GM maf for what way air flows goes.
Another thing you just unplug your 2g maf and plug the translator in there not to the ecu. There is another loose wire that has to be hooked up to a timming source. Real simple to hook up. But you need to do your home work on how to set it and adjust it.


I see your from IL. Are you going to MOD on Sep. 22 at the DSM plant in Normal?

alright thanks for the help and yes i am guy from gas station, i am still selling it and i dont know yet if i am going mod i have check with my work.

oh one more question guys do i need to recirculate the bov?

You shouldn't IIRC with the translator. You should bring the car out to us and we can help you. Since you are probably the coolest gas station attendant. If you live in Glen Ellen it takes about 50 minutes to get here. But you'd be FMIC'd up when you leave.

Won't be able to do it there. And I'm not going to want to spend my entire week getting ready for MOD only to get there and do it AT MOD,,
