Since I dont have a turbo timer yet I was wondering how long you should consider cooling down for?
Lets say you just got done cruising not really getting on it at all how long at idle before you turn it off to allow proper cooling for the turbo.
What about how long when you did get on it and was boosting all the way up to the stopping point? how long then?
i understand that its not required... but thats not what im asking. just how long should i wait :D

Also I just bought an intake and the adapter plate off ebay. Im probably going to get rid of the ebay filter and replace it with a better quality one cause I dont trust no name when it comes to sucking air into my engine. But how are the performance on these? noticable? better mpg worse mpg? sound wise?

I personally do one minute during the winter time, and 1:30-2:00 during the summer time. Whether I get on it or not doesn't play a part in my decision.

I may be wrong, but a filter is a filter to me-no matter what.

WTF Damn ive been doing like 30-45sec... Didnt know i need to wait 2min aw man:toobad:

If I drive is slow, no boosting I don't wait at all. If I race it and drive hard I wait 1min before engine shut off.

As long as you're not really getting on it, ~45 seconds is adequate is fine in the winter. Summer weather on the other hand should be at least a minute no matter what you're doing, or at least thats how I roll. :)

Opps forgot to ask something.
What about waiting when you start the car? should you have a certain amount of time to wait before leaving? like 30sec idle?
Im not talking about in the mornings i always wait untill my cars temp is at normal operating temps before i give it any boost.

Me, I typically just get in an go. But I don't get on it for a few mins if it's cold. The weather is getting nice here, so that negates it.

I usually wait at least 30 seconds before I leave to go anywhere, even if the engine's been warmed up.

As for cool down, the speed limit in my neighborhood is 30 kph, so I drive home at 30 for about 2 mins and idle for at least 2 minutes.

A water cooled turbo is already a huge step in the right direction as far as cool down goes. This discussion is always brought up, much like the "3 in exhaust overkill?" one. The longer you wait, the better, but the benefits of letting the car idle are going to go down at an exponential rate. I always just drive my car easy for at least a few minutes, then shut it directly off. If there's no load on the turbo, the heat is minimal.
