Hi guys gotta a bit of a problem Im trying to diagnose myself without taking it into a shop...Need a bit of help tho!

Ok so 91 AWD. I torked out one night just ####ing around then right after noticed my clutch was diffrent and my gears wouldn't shift normally and smoothly as they should into one another! Later the next day I was in traffic and BAM:cry: my clutch droped and couldnt put it into gear no matter how hard I pushed(not Grinding) turned the car off put it in gear then she would chug a bit and be drvable in first having to rev t up jus rite to switch gears clutch didnt matter if it was pushed in!

So: Im assuming it could be a hydrolic promlem maybe the clutch release cylinder?
or the "forks" got old and broke off inside due to lack of maintenance?
or the presure plate or something isn't engaging?

If I knew what was wrong or where to start looking asfor a general list of things to do! That would help GREATLY! then I could learn as I go along and try to figure this out! Im so frustrated as to whats wrong! help me please!

Actually have the same problem in my N/T 1g parts car. Mine the clutch is shot, something on the pressure plate or throw out bearing is messed up, so I have to power shift each gear when I move it. Yours could be the slave cylinder is messed up/needs bled. That's the first thing I would start with.

On the transmission (underside) is the slave cylinder. Have a friend push the clutch in/out while you watch the slave rod to make sure it's moving. Start from there.

i agree, watch the slave cyinder for movement while someone pushes the clutch, if theres movement it probably a clutch fork/clutch issue, if no movement maybe a bad slave or master

If thats the case with the forks being the problem, is that part replaceable or fixable from outside of the transmission!? or would I need to take it off to look?

The throw out bearing fork is on the inside. All you really need to do is disconnect the tranny from the engine and slide it out a bit and you'll be able to see your throwout bearing and fork. I'm not too sure if that is your problem, but it will be good to replace them anyways if they are worn.
