On my 1995 Eagle Talon TSI, am i supposed to fill it with regular or premium grade fuel? premium octane is 92.

Depends on what your running for Boost ect. I would use Premuim if your boosting above stock tune lvls, other then that the TSI says nothing about using premium but my buddie does because of the 19lbs of boost he pushing!LOL

I would use premium all the time if you want the best chance of avoiding knock. Not to mention, you'll get more 'umph' out of your car per say. Read this [Club DSM] Why do these cars require premium fuel? Is it worth it? and make up your mind.

LOL sweet, that solves the issue. hopefully previous owners have filled up with premium

Actually I'm pretty sure it says on the dash that you have to use premium.

this is really personal, but i run only premium fuel in all the cars i drive, from 80's honda's to large gas consuming trucks, it burns better more completely and cleaner, and in some cases like the Shell gas CO. they put in (they say!) gas conditioners to clean your valves and everything else. but its like i said my own personal choice

*Waits for thread to be mashed in with the others......*

If it's turbo, use premium. If it is high compression, use premium. As for higher octanes "burning cleaner" that can't be true at all. Octane simply measures the resistance to detonation.

As for shell and/or chevron using additives to clean out your engine, be careful what is being put in there. Most of the time, you don't really need it.

And, on this forum we are a big believer in searching out questions to reduce the possibilities of multiple threads with the same questions. So in the future, please do so.

Marketing bullshit. You need as much octane as it'll take to prevent knock. More than that is a waste of your money. Higher-octane fuels contain more additives, and less gasoline, resulting in reduced energy (mileage) and increased deposits. Shell's formulation is no better at fighing "engine sludge buildup" (which is not from gasoline, but from oil) than anyone else's.

Don't believe the commercials.

If your fuel gauge or gas door says "PREMIUM UNLEADED ONLY", then use it.
