I searched around and couldn't find an answer but I've got a 95 gst with a rusty tank and I picked up a 99
Fwd tank but I'm afraid there's some differences can I make this tank work?

The tank itself is plastic. I am assuming you mean the shroud? Swap them out, the only major differences would be the electrical wiring pinouts.

Only awd tanks are plastic the inside of mine is rusted bad and I mean the whole tank. The 99 has some black box with 4 tubes coming out of it do I just plug those?

I notice this 99 tank doesn't have a filler neck vent tube in the same spot as my stock tank. I'm not sure what to do this black box with three hoses coming out if it stumps me too I looked down into the tank and that black box goes almost to the bottom. I went through the service manuals for 97-99 and can't find this tank in there. I'm lost guys throw some input in someone has to know what is up with these 99 tanks.

have you googled the question, because if you type in spec for both cars it will give you all that you need to figure it out...no offense.:ohdamn: let me know how it works out?

Well I tried all of that before posting here. I'm not new to forums I just posted here because I can't post anywhere else right now.
I cannot find any info on the 99 tank.

The black box is the fuel vapor canister. Looking at the lines at Z from left to right, the first one ultimately goes to the fuel vapor canister air filter (the thing resembling a can on the far right), the middle to the fuel vapor purge pipe (X), and the last to the filler neck (A). I don't know if you can just plug the hoses or not, but now you know what is on the '99 FWD tank.

Awesome thank you. Looks like I could use this tank but with some longer hoses. I moved the vacuum vapor thing off the 95 tank over to the 99 above the big filler hose and I should be able to connect my smaller filler vapor hose into where it plugs into on the 99 tank after extending it. Ill update everyone on if it works or not. I'm just going to plug the 3 lines on the vapor canister.

So I got the 99 tank in and it worked. I removed the plate that the vacuum line plugs in to from the 95 tank and put it in the spot above the large filler neck hose. Connected the filler neck vent to the same spot the 99 connects to and plugged all the 3 hoses on the black box.

Just wanted to reply incase this is useful in the future. If a mod wants to move this out of the newbie section that might be a good idea since this want really a noob thread.

steel gas tank . cheep and very effective clean out method . pull tank . Remove sending unit . And fuel pump . Clean around all openings, and tape them off with heavy duty duct tape . Repeat until fluid pour's out lite yellow green Drain ' pour in 2 quart's rubbing alcohol ," isopropanol " and 1/2 cup tranny fluid . play shake n bake for 12 hours . drain . Reinstall tank . Be sure to clean fuel pump and sending unit with a quality cleaner . I used Berrymans chemtool . wicked stuff . replace fuel filter and add a 5 micron filter [ used accel p.n. 74720 filter ] between main filter on fire wall and fuel rail . In short you have a near pristine and up graded fuel system . And for way low cost . Hope that helps . Be safe . See ya on the salt :-]
