I just got my car running AGAIN. When I drive it won't rev above 3500. When I am parked it rev just fine. However if I stall it up to 2000 then rev it a 4 inch flame will shoot out the tailpipe. I drove for 3 miles and it turned my tailpipe gold. Is this fuel cut? The car stock. I also have hacked the air can,but the lower honeycomb not removed.:|

I'll describe fuel cut for you.
The ECU will see knock, attempt to pull timing so it doesn't knock, if that doessn't work than the ECU will cut signal to the injectors. And since even when you are decelerating with foot off the pedal, there is still an explosion in the chamber, it gives a new feeling from the INTENSE compression braking. it's almost like hitting a brick wall.
If you're backfiring, I would thing your timing is off.

Fuel cut has nothing to do with knock or timing. It is simply the ECU cutting the signal to the injectors when it sees more air entering the engine (via the MAF) than it is programmed to handle.
