ok so as of now i have a stock talon with the boost control solinoid modded (free mod)
im planning on getting a starion fmic, 3000gt fuel pump, 3 inch turbo back exaust, gm 3" maf, maft, blow through intake pipe, upper intercooler hard 3" piping for gm maf, and an act 2100

my question is, at 16 psi of boost, why would i need a safc2, or eprom, if i get a datalogger, wont the car still run the correct air fuel ratio anyways... it does have the maf telling it how much air is going in, AND the o2 sensor telling it basically the air density (from my understandings it tells the ecu if its running too lean or rich, which would be due to a change in air density) so why would i need to tune it.... why do any of us tune our cars? timing i understand, but i wont be getting that advanced, and if any of my upgrades above require something like that,.. tell me and i just flat out wont do them... but if not,.. why do we need to tune the air fuel ratio, if were driving around and the temp changes, doesnt that set our tuning all out of whack anyways? and also, doesnt the maft allow for tuning also, why would i need a 250-300 air fuel controller with such simple mods? elighten me please....

anyone any ideas? is the maft/datalogger set up good enof, is anyone here running something similarly?

16psi on a stock turbo - stock car , does not really require any tuning.
we tune because the ECU is pretty much set to run both safe and get decent milage.
It is not getting everything out of the motor it can.
If you get a maft - you would be able to tune anyways, u dont need an AFC

THANK YOU...finally someone answers my question directly about the maft...

The main reason for tunning a car is because most have larger injectors and big turbos, somethign the factory never tuned for.

As far as the MAFT and AFC thing goes, I would run both and actually plan on runnign both. You can use the MAFt to get you into the ball park then fine tune with an AFC. Plus it is a bi*** to have to pop the hood and make changes then make a run and do it again. You could run the wires inside and that would fix it, but I woudl still run both if it were my car.
