ok so i just got a CEL and i checked it and it says its my Fuel Pressure Solenoid i have heard you can clean these to fix the problem. my question is where is it located and what exactly do i have to clean or change.
Thanks

so i just disconnect the lines and clean them out? or can i clean out the solenoid itself too? the car has been off since last night do i have to worry about anything coming out of the lines when i take them out?? sorry for all the questions

Those are vacuum lines so you will not have to worry about anything coming out of it. Just check the connector to make sure its not corroded and that nothing is blocking the ports within the solenoid.

I just bought my 99 gst and the CEL comes on and off occasionally and its the P1105 code. i have done some research and am fairly educated about cars and have found that it can be a bad connection, intermittent open or short in the wires, or the solenoid is bad. im currently dealing with the problem myself and i think if the lines to the solenoid are nice and clean inside and the wiring from the ECU to the solenoid are not open and do not have high resistance it should be a bad solenoid. does anyone know the spec for the solenoid resistance wise or the method of actually checking the solenoid

When the car starts up, it fires a voltage spike to the actuator then waits to detect an return impulse from the coils impedance. <- Someone may need to clean up my electrical jargon. I'm not sure I used the right words.

The vacuum lines can be disconnected and it will still pass this test. The problem is electrical. Either a bad solenoid, a bad connection, or bad wiring.

That little "knob" is just a cap plugging another port on the end. You can pull that cap off and see for yourself.

This is situation where you are looking at resistance in the circuit. If the sol. is in good condition, a bad connection will send bad signals. It is something of Ohm's law. It raises the potential of resistance at a crazy rate. The ECU or sutch is nothing but an "IF-THEN " device so it follows the bad signal. A clean connecion and dielectric grease is a must. If the starting point is bad ,the end result... Tres...

Who here has a working Fuel Pressure Solenoid
??????
i thinnk and hope thats what i need..

also

Manifold Differential Pressure Sensor
throwing codes and connections are good ...

you and I are in the same boat. Ive replaced both the MDP and the FPS and still have a CEL. Not sure what my course of action is at this time

I disconnected all the vacuum lines from all the solenoid's and left them plugged in, no CEL.. I ran the vacuum line from the im directly to the FPR. You can try this just to see if the CEL will stop.

i bought a MDP sensor of thedsmgraveyard and that got rid of my code and i also bought a fuel pressure soleniod but he sent me one from a 1g :ohdamn: Not to worry i let them know and they shipped a 2g one the next day :hellyeah:
Awsome Customer service from Garymitsu here at this site :rocks:

Tvscream have you cleared the codes with a scanner?

I have not cleared the code by using an code reader. I just pulled the terminals from the battery. Ill reset it again tonite and see what happens.

quick question, will this cel just clear by replacing the parts or do i actually have to clear them out after install with code reader/pulling terminals?

alrite. i went and had the codes read and i no longer have the MDP code but still have the FPS code and a NEW code. P0551.

shenanigans.

tvscream did your p1105 go away for good. I just routed around it and haven't tried clearing it yet. I can't take emissions until it's gone, damn Chicagoland. Is there a way to check the resistance of the solenoid? Or just the whole vacuum change with 12v power thing?

:confused::confused::confused:

Negative, I have not been able to clear this FPS code. Im considering just bypassing it and taking my chances on emissions that way. Im pretty sure the CEL for the Powersteering is gone now, but we will have to see.
