Hello to all! im new to dsmtuners, and im in a bind. just got my stock 450cc injectors for my Laser in the mail yesterday, While i was looking at them i found that one of the injectors has a broken (green) plastic cap that goes on to the injector tip where the fuel comes out. Now, would it be ok to still use this injector? Or would it be a bad idea? could it cause misfires? :hmm: any input would be great!
Glad to be apart of the DSM World!:hellyeah:

It will work just fine.:) All those caps do is protect the pintle. They don't affect the spray pattern, or anything like that. If it's cracked, or there is a piece still hanging there just pull it off so that it doesn't fall into the engine.;)

ok thats good news, thanks for the help. it must have broke during shipping or or something...

A Pic would help but a broken injector tip does not sound good at all man.

i would but dont know how. :hmm:

I agree I have placed a few injectors with that problem back in due to ppl don't usually want to pay for new ones and have had no problems. Just take the rest of it off like he said and use it you will be fine.:thumb:

ok thats good news. i just was thinking the worst :sosad:

if you still have the old injectors just take the tip off them and put it in there

i was think that too. but got to get them out of the car first. but if i did do that, would the 560's cap fit the 450's?

The 2G green pintle caps actually do affect the spray pattern, the create two cones and direct them at the back of the valves. Mitsubishi claimed this improved atomization and emissions.

^^ this true it does somewhat affect how it enters the chamber and gets mixed with the air but unless your pushing a good bit of power over stock you will not notice much difference in performance. If any at all. And I would not try putting the caps off the 560s on it as you could just mess it up and then have two injectors without caps. Plus when/if you mod up you won't even use these injectors.

The reason i got the stock ones is because the owner before me put the Evo 560's in there, not knowing what he was doing, and no way to tune.:toobad: so im fixing his mistakes right now before i mod it up any(that goes with a lot of used DSM's). The car can barely idle and is running pig rich! runs fine once its going, but it wont let me rev passed 6000rpm. i feel like if i put the 450's back in ill have better performance, it want be smoking fuel out the back anymore, and ill be able to pass emissions.:hmm:

Yes will have much better performance. I swapped to 560s once just cause I had them and my evo engine currently has no use:| and swapped back next day. Went through fuel like hell and couldn't get on it at all. Deff will be able to drive much better on the stock injectors.

yeah that's good news. once i get all the maintenance done then the fun will start!:D

another side question, I'm running stock boost with the 560's that r in there now, and plan on uping it to 10 or 12psi when i put the 450's in. Would that be ok to do even though i have that cap missing on that one injector? now that i heard what Steve said I'm kinda on the fence about doing that.

I'm putting in the injectors tomorrow will let everybody know how it goes.:D

I did a rebuild on my 1G a while back, I got everything installed right, double tripple checked everything and started it. RAN like crap!! Idled rough and when on load, felt like NO power whatsoever. I checked everything you could possibly think of and kept running like CRAP! I was stumped so I took it to my friend's shop and it took 2 hrs for us to figure out it was one of the injectors (#4) !! It had a crack on the tip. just a crack from base of the "cap" to the pintle. REPLACE IT! just to be on the safe side..
