fuel filter issue

so I went to replace my fuel filter on my 99 gst and the freakin nut on the hardline at the bottom is stripped. Any suggestions on what to do? or am I screwed?

Vice grips might work.

Soak it with pb blaster a bit to, might help.

in my experience with anything being stripped a vice grip usually comes through. although, i bet you have a bad angle at it ha. i stripped my clutch line nut at the cylinder before it took about an hour to get the vice grip to turn it.

next time use a line wrench ha. PB blaster and a vice-grip did the job for me.

Hmm. Same thing happened to me. I took the car to my local mechanic to help me install a new fuel filter. the nut on the hardline (fuel filter bottom bolt) was stripped so I was unable to install the new filter. He said that he could force it in but it will likely cause fuel leakage at the bottom of the new filter once installed.

Does anyone know how one goes about replacing that nut? If you know, please provide pictures and a good explanation on what has to be done.

Your gonna have to cut the hard line and replace a section of it on the end with new stuff


or you could pick up a flare tool and cut just a little off and replace just the nit if you have a little slack to make that work....you can get a small section of fuel line from the auto parts store and either cut it to use just the nut........or use the lengt to replace a longer section at the end with a union fitting.

Your other option would be to replace the entire length of fuel line.....and that's no bueno
