fuel filter

i got the old one off, and im trying to put the new one on but there is no way that bottom 14mm bolt on the fuel is grabbing the in side of the fuel filter! ive been trying for the past 4 hours and can't even to get it to grab wether its mounted to the firewall or im just trying to spin it!!

I tried a bolt the same size, the flare nut on thefuel line is fine, and so are the theads on the new fuel filter...

any advice or tips? pleaaaase

Which brand is the replacement? I had trouble with mine and figured out it was the wrong part number.

dont know the brand, just typical one from autozone. the thing is i can't even get the old filter back on either but like i said the flare nut and bolts are fine.. do i need to push it all te way down ad then come up with the flare nut or start the flare nut as soon as i line it up?

it has to be wrong. they fit in there and grab very very easy

Try leaving all mounting bolts off. It's easier to catch it when everything is loose and than tighten it all once everything is threading smoothly.

yea i tried all that its like it just doesnt want to fit...

im gonna return the autozone one and get this one instead:

The autozone filter was so cheap and flimsy. I actually bent the new one while installing it. :garbage:

Also, make sure your pushing up on the nut itself and not the fuel line as the flare will bottom out first and not allow the threads to meet.

i got the fram one today, and it fits on the fuel line alot easier but I still can't get the ####er to thread. i'm pulling my hair out...

I got my fram fuel filter at walmart..Worked just fine, cured the chugging problem right up..

the fram seems better but just wont thread... not sure if the flare nut is messed up.

I think i'm just gonna break down and get something like this:

I got this one, you will need some thicker crush washers as the replacements the ones provided didn't work and leaked.

The WIX filter number I used is 33866. The gaskets that came with it worked fine. I can't remember if this was with the bracket included, which isn't needed.

That's another it shows that would work with our cars. I didn't know about that one or I would have gotten it.
