All fuel cut threads are combined here.

I've tried doing a search but to no avail.

I was just wondering what Fuel Cut is. I've heard it tossed around alot, but do not actually know the details behind it. And, naturally, I can gather that its when the fuel is cut off, but when and why.

Thanx,
Jon

ok first off i have read what a few of you have replied about fuel cut. but my problem is my car is pretty much stock the guy i got it from did get a new turbo with in the last yr or so. I do not at this time have any thing but a stock boost gauge. Here is what happens if u punch it every thing is cool boost gos right up revs go up but as soon as the revs hit 4.5 to 5 grad i get fuel cut im sure thats it . as soon as it happens you almost hit the streering wheel and as i have read in ur forum it so go to 7 grad . So what am i looking at here a weak fuel pump or what im lost plz help

the fmic has everything to do with this, youre flowing more air now, the ecu is seeing more air and cutting fuel. adding fuel wont help persay, you need to trick the ecu into seeing less air, ie. piggyback

you think the afc can stop the fuel cut???

Mods
Drag gen 3 FMIC 22x3x6.5 core with 2.25 piping with 2g elbow. 1G crushed BOV, Cyclone Intake Manifold (setup to work). TurboXS manual boost controller. Apexi Turbo Timer. Walbro 255 with rewire kit. Poly mounts, CNC'ed cable booshings. 2g shift knob. Nology wires and iriduim plugs. exhaust cutout(pasted from profile)

I dont have anything to controll fuel yet and im out of cash at the moment, and the car will be running in a couple days. Im pretty sure the car is gunna hit fuel cut easy, so my question is if i take out the lower honey combs will that set the cut back enough? Im tryin to run 22lbs.

you're that far in mods and you still haven't done the free stuff? haysus krist!
are you trying to get it to run? it will not run very well until you get a new fpr and perhaps some sort of fuel control.
22psi on what turbo? the 14b? after you take care of the stuff above, it should be ok

imo little cash+little patients= big fck ups

i would keep the boost down and i also think you will need a fpr

i have seen alot of people say they want to run boost they shouldn't i tell them they shouldn't and ALL of them have blown shit up.

i would get bigger injectors and a safc and then run 22 psi(on race gas)

i'm having no problems running 19psi with my stock sidemount, so i think a big fmic should handle 22 with ease

My car was unmodded when i got it, i blew the trans, and then the timing belt went on the way back from the trans shop, after being fixed(trans) . now i finally got all parts replaced. so here i am. next steps are safc, 2g mas, injectors, then fpr. That sound good? also can i use a 1g n/t fpr? I heard they flow a little more, that tru?
Im on a 14b can it live with 660cc injectors till i upgrade the turbo

I have been running 16psi for the longest with no fuel cut. Today I decided to log my car with my brothers palm and realized it could use some minor adjustments. I ended up hitting fuel cut so I put them back to my initial settings and now I hit fuel cut there. So I turned the boost down and still hit fuel cut nothing I do now will help prevent fuel cut.
I need help

This is a 95 GS-T

I was wondering... when the ecm cuts fuel does it run super lean??? could fuel cut be damaging??

Adam

Also with a boost leak you hit Fuel Cut alot sooner then you normally would because some of your air is escaping so the MAS see's way more air then is actually going into the motor.

According to my PocketLogger it doesn't seem damaging to the car. Here's the section of the log where I hit fuel cut.

Yeah it really does feel like you just hit something. See in my log where my TPS reading jumps after I hit fuel cut? That was when the car threw me forward and my foot pushed down the gas pedal
OMG

You get fuel cut when you flow too much air like high boost. 11 PSI is really close to stock and a lot of people run 15 psi on stock fuel systems. Piggy back's will help you avoid getting fuel cut if you put one in with bigger injectors. Otherwise check for large boost leaks.

Fuel cut is better for the engine than the alternative that's why it was programmed in.

15 psi on stock FP ummmm i dont think so . I am running 11 psi with a rewired 190(stock injectors mind you) and i am getting fuel cut. I know its my injectors that si the bottle neck just need some cash. I personally wouldnt go above 11 psi with stock pump or injectors.
