Hey guys. My water pipe is leaking on the power steering pump side. What's the best way to fix it? I know I need to get a new oring, but how do I go about installing it in the pipe?

Ya I kinda figured that, but what do I have to pull off? Do I HAVE to pull off the exhaust manny/turbo? Or can I do it by pulling out the PS pump?

Damn. I've never serviced a DSM, but I'm definitely experienced enough to do it. Wish me luck!

One common source of a water pump leak is the o-ring not installed properly. You must replace the o-ring in the crossover inlet pipe by putting it on the pipe end first, coating with coolant, and then insert pipe with o-ring into water pump – do not put the o-ring into water pump first as it will not seat properly and will leak.
Also do not use RTV on the water pipe. The o-ring does the job of sealing the water pipe to the pump housing and doesn't need anything else. The RTV will reduce it's ability to seal and flex and can actually create ways for the coolant to leak. Make sure that the water pipe is free of any corrosion where the o-ring sits and that the o-ring is lubed with coolant before putting the pump on so it isn't cut or torn. Take a scotch brite pad (the green kitchen scrubbers) and polish the water pipe end if necessary. Use a new o-ring. Make sure you don't scratch the inside of the water pump.

I'm having trouble finding the oring to buy. I looked it up on my dealer site and it's not listed, so I'm gonna give them a call in a minute. Any suggestions?

Or part number ES72872 at a parts store.

Found it at advance auto. Thanks guys! Now I just have to buy it and re-install everything. I'll grab a tube of RTV as well.

Alright, got the leak stopped, but now my car has an idle problem. It will start fine, then it will ALMOST die, but will then catch itself and idle at 800 rpms. If I put it in gear, I have to feather the throttle a little more so I won't stall. And then, if I shift down, say, from 3rd to 2nd, or 2nd to first, the car will completely die. Any ideas?
