Front mount advice

I'm looking into upgrading my side mount to a front mount but i'm at a loss for what to get

My final goal for this car is high 12's and I know I have a long way to go but i'd like to research twice buy once

Surprisingly i've heard good things about the ebay frount mounts but I was also considering gettting the Punishment Racing frount mount

Another thing, I might have the chance to pick up a stock evo 9 intercooler. The guy wants me to give him an offer but i don't know how much i should offer him

Any specific recomendations for my time goal? And should i look into trying to pick up that evo 9 intercool (how much should I offer him)

The evo 9 intecooler is definitely sufficient for your HP goals but the fitment might be a huge issue. Its a bit taller then most "street" intercooler for our cars, 7 inches. I have seen it done, but requires a lot cutting a modding the front crash beam

I just finished installing the ETS street FMIC on my 1g. I must say its an awesome intercooler, great quality. I plan on writing up a tech article soon after I have taken all the pictures I need, but there are a few things that are troubling about the fitment and installation of the intercooler.

I have a stock MAS configuration, and the position of the BOV flange for the 1g is terribly placed. The recirculation outlet on the BOV is facing the thermostat housing, and hits the coolant temp sensor.

I also ran into trouble with the J-pipe, I know ETS says on the website that their kit is not compatible with the FAL fan, but this is due to a huge elongaged shape of the jpipe. I ended up getting the jpipe with a passenger side outlet from Dejon power house. 100% better fit.

Look into the VRSF FMIC kit. It's a quality piece and it's large enough for your goals as well. PM mangina (some numbers at the end) and he'll square you away on the details. A lot of people will vouch for it.

is the evo 8 and evo 9 intercoolers the same?
and if i did get the evo intercooler what piping kit would i get?

I would personally pick up the VRSF or Punishment FMIC. If you go with the Evo intercooler then you are going to have to do quite a bit of modification to get it to fit and you have to find intercooler piping to go along with it, most likely something custom made. By the time you get all that done you will most likely have spent more money than what one of the other kits run.

I run a punishment-racing intercooler and I love it. Honestly I think you should go with the punishment racing intercooler over an evo intercooler. It comes with everything you need and performs perfectly. It also gives you room to grow and is just plain sexier than the evo core .
