just got a 98 gst bone stock. i want a front mount. which is best without a bunch of fab work. is the any with cuttung front bumper and bumper suporrt? gonna get a 16g turbo also. plus wanna keep a/c too. thanks for the help.

No point in putting a front mount on with a stock turbo. Do the basic mods first.

Edit: Didn't notice the 16g. If I were you, go with the VRSF FMIC. Cheap yet very reliable and nothing but great reviews. I do beliece they are on back order until mid-March but worth the wait.

The answer to that question depends on your budget... I don't have any of them, but from what I've heard, for a lower budget (300-400) good options are VRSpeed and Punishment Racing and for a higher budget (700+) the best is ETS.

I believe you can keep A/C on all of them, but don't quote me on that. ETS's kit lets you keep even the fog lights.

Honestly you need to worry about maintenance FIRST, then other more important mods (ie boost gauge,wb,intake, exhaust) Rather than a FMIC just because you want one. There is a ton of info on this site, honestly sounds like you need to do some reading/learning first. Best of luck.

Is a good place to start once maintenance is finished and you want to start upgrading.

I have yet to run into a fmic kit that requires little to no modifications. Our cars never came stock with front mounts like the Evo's, your always going to have to trim the front bumper- but thats the fun of it. The upside of running a 16g is that you wont require a huge intercooler to support it. A nice street kit will be just fine, and there should be less cutting involved since it wont have a massive core. good luck

A FMIC won't do anything for you right now and that money is best used for all of the fuel mods and tuning/logging solutions. You'll need a new fuel pump, injectors, AFPR, a way to tune along with logging (ECMLink). If you throw that 16g on now without those mods you will only want to run wastegate pressure unless you like destroying your motor.

If you haven't already, do a boost leak test. Follow the upgrade path posted above and do some reading. You'll actually loose power right now if you bolt on a giant FMIC while running a T25. Also with the VRSF, I'm using one and have done 500hp (50-60lbs/min) and the core is still ice cold. Granted this was durning winter :p

The least amount of modifying with a core would have to be a Supra side mount. Not a FMIC like you want but it won't heat soak or shouldn't with the 16g. Fits in where the stock IC is.

Check out these other threads comparing intercooler brands (and their are hundreds more if you do a quick search):

I personally have the VRSF kit and love it. However I agree that your money would be better spent elsewhere if you are just starting to mod it. Follow the upgrade path, it is proven and effective.

If you are wanting to run this setup with A/C, you might run into lack of cooling space... This never happened to me, but the previous owner discussed it with me. He kept telling me that there was too much cooling space with the fmic on my cruiser setup... w/e, You're goals are around the same as mine. I'd search for something a little smaller than what I have. The greddy fmic is just too damn big. What you should look for is a fmic that allows airflow past itself to help feed radiator as well as condensor...

look people all i was asking is which intercooler needs little fab work. if you look at profile a have a 1g talon, not my first go around.

You got your answer already. You HAVE TO CUT the bumper on a 2g for any FMIC and either remove the support or cut that as well unless you get a very small profile core to sit lower than the support.
