I have noticed something regarding the front right axle, on an AWD 1990 manual talon, and I am looking for clarification, although I have it solved currently for myself, just trying to find out where I went wrong.

I have three spare front right axles, it is a rally car, and they are ALL about 1" shorter than the one I took out of the car, and shorter than the replacement I just bought at NAPA. The "Proper" one is about 25" long, compressed, and the others are all 24" long.

Can anyone tell me where I got the shorter, as in what they came out of, as they are just long enough to work, but are stretched, and occasionally pull out of the transmission, and then break! The inner bell is stretched to the max, and seems to be riding on the edge of the bell, which is obviously not OK.

Thanks!

i dont know for sure, but i think they supposed to have about 1/2 play with the suspension not loaded up
i know i had 1/4 play on my colt only and i never had any problems
im curious for an answer too
i searched rock auto and they have the measurements for two axles for a 1990 pass side one is 24 the other is 24 1/4
kinda weird
