What's up guys!

Need your help with this build

1997 GST 5 speed, T25 (stock)
I have Boost Controler, 2.5" Exhaust, AEM Wideband, AEM Boost Gauge/Controler, GReddy BOV

On the side (not in the car)
Evo3 16g, FMIC, catch can.
Want: 650 or 750cc dont know yet, Walbro 255.

Some guy say want to put all in my car and tune (without dsmlink, safc2 or another thing) .... don't know how can he going to do that.

That's my question guys: It is any way to tune without all those things? or maybe the guy just go in low boost until I'll buy any of it.
And DSMLink V3 is the best way to make tune? $550 is not in my budget now.

Thanks very much for help me out!!! LOL

He may be suggesting having the ecu flashed. I personally would recomment a way to tune, like AFC... Preferably dsmlink though. So you can change your boost, or setup, and be able to compensate.. Also as for your injectors, i would say go as big as you can afford, and you can always tune around it. Start putting all your new parts on and dont drive until its all done correctly, and you have a way to tune, so you donts drive wot with a lean tune and melt stuff.

I would personally wait to install everything. Need a way to compensate fuel, so why take the risk when you can save for a little bit and have some form of way to compensate for everything.

^^^^^ I'm always to slow to answer damn it!! Haha but what he said.

Also I'd add before you install that you should get a fuel pressure regulator.

Well as I said then, I would leave it as is since its in good working order. Then save for bigger injectors, and a way to tune (preferably DSMlink). Do it right the first time so you don't end up turning it into a project car.

**also you can put the evoIII 16g, fmic, and catch can on and run low boost levels, I just wouldn't upgrade injectors without a way to support the extra fuel.

You can install everything except the injectors without needing a tune, just keep the boost low until you get injectors and a way to tune. There's no way to run larger-than-stock injectors without a way to compensate (DSMLink, AFC, ceddy mods, etc) you'll run so rich the car probably won't start/run. And like previously stated, get the biggest injectors you can afford, a good tune will make them run fine and you'll have room to grow down the road. :thumb:

Everyone's correct. Anything on that list can be installed except injectors until you get a way to tune.

Since you plan on going with ECMlink, I'd go for injectors that are as big as you can afford. The more room you have to play with, the better.

A fuel pump rewire kit is something I'd add in with the pump, as well as an AFPR since you'll be overrunning your stock one with the 255.

You can only flash 98-99 model ecus and you have a 97 so that's out of the question. Wait till you have proper supporting mods to tune with otherwise you could get into boost creep which is really annoying cause you cant drive like you want to and hit fuel cut.

Ok so newbie here, but been reading a lot. I am running 2.5" turbo back, aftermarket BOV, and intake. So my question is after maintenance is done, i plan to start modding. Just wondering if my goals are in somewhat of a "correct" and "safe" timeline in terms of upgrades i get. I am thinking Wideband a/f gauge, oil pressure gauge, boost gauge, boost controller, DSM link. then after link i was thinking 255 Walbro pump, adjustable fuel regulator, and here is where another concern of mine lies.

not exactly sure what size injectors. future plans would include 16g, and a front mount. then probably a clutch. but will DSM link be enough to compensate for all these upgrades/the extra fuel without adding any more mods for more air intake? can i get like 775cc injectors for example, but restrict and tune the fuel management enough to not have to immediately upgrade turbo/intercooler for more air?

DSMlimk will probably handle everything you toss at it. From your list it seems like you have a good idea on what you want. As for injector size it will all depend on your power goals and if you wanna run e85!

haha probably won't be running race gas but maybe. never do know. Yea i have an idea for sure. i wanna keep that balance between reliability and powerful/fun. looking for around 350-400 whp. but after fuel upgrades ill probably skip around and do brakes and things like that.

If you get link buy the biggest injectors you can afford and use link to scale them down. Ive bought injectors 3 times now and wish I would have gone big in the first place. Im hoping my 1200s will hold out for awhile now.

ok good to know. thats perfect wording for whhat i was wondering. if link would scale them down to the T25 and stock air flow until i upgrade turbo/intercooler. also probably switch to 3" turbo back at some point

yea i think my goal is def around there. the kid put a pacesetter on it, not gonna complain bc he also did headers, but 3" sounds better in my opinion and i am a huge fan of the Apexi N1

I'm surprised no one has corrected you yet. You can chip the Eprom ECU's as well from the 95-96 models and you can just buy a 98-99 ECU and flash that.

for 96 if you have a stock ECU, then get DSMllink, if it isnt Eprom, how do you make it work with link? that is one thing i am confused about, the ECU and installing DSMlink

How am I wrong? He has a 97 so he will either have to buy a EPROM ecu or get a flashable ecu 98-99 or convert his current ecu to EPROM.

So long story short, I got a FMIC Punishment (used) for $120 I think got a pretty good deal, and I'm ready to put all in the car.
Like you guys saying, run in lower boost until get a 750cc, walbro 255 and eprom or dsmink.

How low boost is good to run? I want safe and free mind

i only have limited knowledge but from what i am reading and understand i wouldn't push much more than 15psi-ish on that setup without more fuel and a way to tune it (such as DSMlink). your "problem", which isnt really a problem, i think, is that you now have maximized the air in without much of a way to add more fuel. so you will obviously run lean on this setup
