Friend looking at buying a 94 tsi...advice needed

Hello all. Im not a newbie to the DSM scene, but im strictly 2g. My good friend is looking at buying a friend of mines 94 tsi AWD, with 144k miles. The car does need a turbo, and put back together. We put my spare 20g on, and it started right up. The car has been sitting two years in his backyard, however its VERY clean. One tiny ding is all, and the interior is probably 9.5/10, exterior is also probably 9.5/10. Has aftermarket wheels, but is completely stock otherwise.

The car has 144k on it, were decently sure its the original engine, and trans. Im the local DSM junkie, and the seller is asking me what he should sell it for. My other friend (buyer) is asking me what he should pay, however i have no clue. They just threw a price at me tonight, which is why im posting here. The seller said he'd like to get $2900 for it, Which for a (technically) non running car, seems a bit steep. Still would seem a bit steep even running, considering miles and such.

Sooooo. What do you guys think is a fair price for this car? i can post pics if interested.

Way to high you can get a running one for a grand and put the 20g on for $200 offer the guy half if you cant live without it

2900? That is retarded. I would say 1900 to 2200 max if it is in as good of shape as you say it is.

If it was clean, had low mileage and in running order then yes $2900 is fair, but in its current condition I would pay no more than $1200...maybe $1500 with a turbo and very little rust (underbody included)

Agree completely!! Its been sitting for 2years, never driven or turned on i assume, and that is never good for the motor! You would have to do some serious maintains on it before driving (IMO) change all the fluids, check to insure everything looks good, and all seals are still working, ect.! $2900 is way to much for my taste on something like this!

Knowing what i know about dsm, hell i know it inside and out i would pass. find a gsx or tsi for around 1000, there old cars.

Try telling that to people in Denver. I think 3800 for a 20 year old car that needs work is rediculous. I would have to agree with the posts above me, that is a steep price for a car that has sat for 2 years. The only issue I would see is that it has sat for 2 years, he seems to not be in a hurry to sell it and trying to hack his price down would make him pass.

my friend just got one just like this one foe $1100. he had do change alot of gaskets and pretty much all the belts and fluids. so if you cant get a better deal i would pass.

Go to him and flash 1200 in his face. Let him know u dont give a shit about what mods he has. He not doing nothing with it when he sees 1200 in his face he will start to wonder all the things he can do with 1200 in his pocket, as of now the 1g isnt doing him any good to hold on to it.
