Ok so I just install my fresh rebuild 14b on my 95 gst
Im feedting the turbo from the head!

Ok the problem is when I REV the engine and after 3k makes a dam noise! It song like a blender or something like that and is not building no boost at all!

Mods are!!

1g bov
stock pump rewire
K&F air intake
eBay MBC

This is my DD please help!!

Sounds like you got some other issues. Who rebuilt it? Was it balenced? Any issues with the engine prior to this?
 
I would definitely check if you sucked something into the turbo or there is something jumping around being hit by either the turbine or compressor blades. check if the compressor blades are hitting the cover.

Also, I believe that MHI turbos do not need to be balanced, they are internally balanced from the factory.
 
I rebuild it my self but I dint do balance the turbo have no shaf play at all and the car was ronning good I was running 13 psi on the t-25! Reason I did the swap is ### the turbo have in and out paly!

Theres the problem. From the sounds of it, you should have taken it to a shop for a rebuild. No offense to you, but from reading yoour pther posts about how to install a turbo, you really shouldnt be messing with rebuilds yet.

Also, I believe that MHI turbos do not need to be balanced, they are internally balanced from the factory.

Please dont post stuff that you clearly have no idea about. You absolutly have to re-balence a turbo after a rebuild, i dont know where you got that idea from.

Yea I chek the compressor blades and loock ok spin freely!! I was thinking maybe is the ac comppresor ### the noice came freon the driver side! Or maybe the water pump ### I dint use enough antifreeze

Most turbo parts are balanced individually when new- you need to look at the compressor locknut to see if there are balance grinds to tell if the rotating assembly was balanced once the turbo was together. If not, you can assemble the wheels however you like and the turbo will be within an acceptable balance tolerance.

Been rebuilding these for 7 years without a labor-related failure, so I'm obviously doing something right.

Actually, I know what im talking about. Im well aware of balence grinds, yet would never put a re-built on my car without having the turbo re-balence (unless the fins were absolutly perfect which a lot of times is not the case with a 20 year old turbo). And yeah...i m aware you rebuild turbos on here, Im not insulting you or your intelligence just making a point that the op probably messed something up in the re-build process.

Of course, this "balance grind" rule only applies to previously unassembled OEM turbochargers....aftermarket companies can low-speed balance the rotating assembly on a Turbo-Pac machine; not many aftermarket turbo builders have the $100K+ VSR Balancing Machines that the factories use.

As long as there's no wheel damage, you can absolutely rebuild a turbo without a rebalance.

But why is not building boost??
Who knows? Improper assembly? Maybe you bent the turbine somehow? Maybe the wastegate actuator isn't sealing the flapper against the housing?

Exactly. Which is why i said you should re-balence. A good percentage of oem 14b turbos have been pulled apart already. They are old. I do things right the first time so i dont do it again. WHy cut a corner and not re-balance? To save a $125? No need to insult me and say i dont know what im talking about...ive been into boosted cars for a long time.

....the same as there is no need to come into this thread voicing a bold blanket statement that ALL turbos need balanced anytime they're disassembled while pointing your finger at a member who is apparently more informed on the topic than you originally thought.

Balancing is not as crucial to turbo survival as you may think...I've had customer turbos come to my shop with compressor wheels that are completely trashed but the turbo still made boost and has no shaft play.

I suppose we'll agree to disagree.

If you're saying the turbo spins freely and still has no shaft play, I don't see how it could be related to anything you did during the rebuild. Now if the turbo had a bent shaft, tons of play, and the compressor wheel was scraping off the cover- then we can assume you did something wrong.

I get the turbo from I junk yard and the compressor wheel was totaly freeze Do to carbon inside the catrige, but the blades looked ok so i order my rebuild kit from Ecreater.com. So I clean everything before reasemble it.

Yeah...im still going with you effed up the rebuild. Logically its the only variable thats been changed. Meaning.. .no noise before "rebuilt" 14b....but noise after 14b install. Just buy a different turbo, DONT try to rebuild it and see what happens.
 
Honestly with how easy it is to rebuild 14b and 16gs I don't see how you could screw it up. If he bought a rebuild kit it's most likely balanced. I also don't understand why anyone would go against what Justin says on anything turbo related. I'd have to agree that something else is messed up.

Lol...its pretty simple. The turbo didnt spin free prior to the rebuild...the car made no noises prior to the install. The only variable changed was the turbo...logically that points to either a error in the rebuild or a problem with the turbo. Plus, neither you or I know if the turbo needed a re-balance. As stated, if its been apart before or if the fins are damaged, it needs a re-balance. Did you not read the posts between me and justin? I AGREED WITH HIM. :rolleyes:

The reason I don't want to get it is because I don't have the soporting mods and i here that you need to port the 2g mani to Mach the 7cm turbine housing of the evo3

and goals is to 300hp and that's it!!

Well the blades look ok to me?

Who is Justin? How much do they charge to do the balance?

POst pics of the blades. Justin is jusmx141 and does rebuilds. By me a balance costs 100-150. But who knows how bad the turbo is. Post some pics.
