FpT28- Rebuild or replace?

I have a FPt28 it has about 5k on it, minor shaft play, fins are in excelent condition, it doesn't smoke, and the previous owner cut the cold side. I called Forced performance and they said they could replace the cold side with one that i would provide for them, and rebuild it for at most $650. After looking at their website i noticed that a brand new one from them costs $900 with no core charge. what is the best thing for me to do?

Rebuild kits for a T25 are $80. If that's all you need to do, shop around. And what the hell did you do to the turbo to wear it out in only 5k miles?

Rebuild kits for a T25 are $80.

The FP T28 uses a 360* thrust plate in order to make the weak thrust system that plagues T25's more durable.

If you rebuild a T28 with a T25's 270* thrust plate, you'd be lucky to make it to the 2k mark before the center of the thrust plate blows out completely and ruins the entire turbo.


The correct rebuild kit for a T28 runs around $160; still a hell of a lot better than $650. Buy the kit and rebuild it yourself....what do you have to lose?

As u can see it's cut and i can't get a pipe to stay on it what so ever. That's y I want to rebulid it while I'm replacing the cut cold side.
