FPR - Walbro 255 - Stock Injectors

The AFPR has nothing to do with the injectors. Rather, it's to handle the increased flow from the 255 which will overrun the stock FPR and increase your base fuel pressure.

If you don't have a way to control your fuel, you should get the AFPR so that you can set your fuel pressure correctly.

I'm guessing that you're chipping away at eventually upgrading your injectors, correct?
 
Yes, you're absolutely correct about the injectors. Okay, so I will need an AFPR from when I put in the 255? That's what I thought, but when I was reading VFAQ, is said if you have bigger injectors, the AFPR will be needed since the SFRP can't slow down the fuel enough with bigger injectors. So I wasn't sure if that meant I didn't need one with stock injectors. Thanks for clearing that up for me. :dsm:
 
Hey man just another quick tip for ya if you plan on doing the 255 thing about doing the fuel pump rewire mod at the same time. check out VFA
 
I know what you are saying about the 190, but I found a new 255 for cheaper believe it or not. Hopefully the FPR won't put me over the top- which brings me to my next question... What FPR should I be getting, and where do I get it from? You guys are such a great help, thanks so much! And I will def keep you all updated on the progress of my car. So far, I just have intake, 1g BOV, upper intercooler piping, gauges, turbo timer, short shifter, and boosting about 15psi with BCS mod, but have a hallman pro rx waiting to go on because I only want to run about 14. You can see some pictures of the car before I started moding here... These were taken right after I lowered it.

Oh, sorry... and my goals are not that high. I'll probably stop after I put on exhaust, bigger injectors, and an EVO III 16g. My OEM t28 is still on with 104,xxx mi. Wow! So, I assume it's only a matter of time until I replace the turbo (I'm afraid I won't be left with a choice) haha.
 
One of the most popular is the Aeromotive FPR. The cheapest set I've found (includes everything you need...AFPR, lines, and fittings...and a gauge for a bit more) is from www.importevolution.com and comes in two styles - one that has stainless steel fuel lines and one that doesn't. Nice deal. Wish they offered black anodized fittings and AFPR; I'm trying to stick with the black/silver/dirt color scheme under the hood. That blue/red aluminum would stand out in my engine bay like spinners on a tank.
 
Speaking of fuel pressure, anyone know about how much pressure i should be running with my stock T2small at around 12 psi when i put in my 255 and afpr? Also, does anyone know a good way to figure out how much fuel pressure to run on different turbos at different boost?

Base fuel pressure for a 2G is 43 psi (with the vacuum line to the FPR disconnected). This value does not change regardless of what size turbo you use or how much power you are making (skilled tuners may play with the bfp in certain situations but don't concern yourself with that at this point). Once you set the base fuel pressure the FPR will automatically adjust the pressure according to boost level. This is why you need a boost referenced AFPR which rises on a 1:1 ratio.
 
lordnikon_04 - To answer your question, a good AFPR raises fuel pressure (just like the stock FPR) on a 1:1 ratio to boost. So if you plan to boost your stock T25 at 15 psi and your stock 2G fuel pressure that you set your AFPR is 43 psi, then at 15 psi of boost your fuel pressure should be 58 psi (43+15). A 190 fuel pump or even a Evo 8 fuel pump should be more than enough for your goals.
