I going to FP for cams; either a set of FP2s or FP2Xs. This depends on a few things. I really like the reviews of the Manley spring and retainer kit from SBR. You can't beat the price. I plan on running to 8500 on track day once or twice a month in the season. I don't drive that aggressive on the street; but she will be driven 3-4 times a week.

So, . . . What will this spring/retainer kit handle? Can i rev to 8500rpms on occasion with these under FP2Xs with their steeper ramp and slightly higher lift than the FP2s? I researched and I've found no one that has tried FP2Xs with these single springs and who have chosen to rev to 8500.

If it's questionable, I'll stick with FP2s and the manleys to get to 8500 rpms. I know FP recommends dual springs, but I was under the impression (through research) that dual springs are only needed for 9000+rpms and super aggressive lift and ramp rates.

This entire year, we have run comp 101400's on both SBR cars, shifted at 9k in my car, and a little over 10k in Nate's car with no issues with Manley S&R kit. Nate did miss a shift once, data recorded 11.5k and Nate did tap a few valves. Not certain if dual springs would have prevented or not...

8500 is a breeze!

Thanx for the quick reply... You'll be getting an order from me with in the day :thumb: . FP2Xs with manley hardware it is.

I don't want to chance a retainer failure. But are the titanium retainers neccesary. I have new stock retainers on the head now. I really don't ever want to go past 8500 rpms. Would the stock retainers be sufficient or would i be asking for a new set rockers and valves soon if i keep them stock? I've never heard of retainer failure except because something else broke and caused them to rip.

I would replace the retainers as well as the springs. There are a few reasons for this, if you need some good tech advice about this feel free to give me a call!

Yea I would run titanium retainers as well. The springs will react quicker and a better choise with the single springs with those cams. I would run the 2xs as well.

This upcoming season I'll be running the FP2x's, with SI dual valve-springs/titanium retainers from SBR. I'm also hoping to be able to bring her to 8500 without a problem
