FP18G-TD06SL: What's your boost set at?

I saw that thread, but he was on e85. I just got a reply from Jeff. He said I could run up to 25psi on the tune now. The factory ecu is only mapped to 25psi so if I wanted to run more I would need dsmlink. He did mention that I should monitor for knock and possibly increase the octane level of the fuel I am using if needed.

What?????? Jeff never asked me anthing about how much I want to boost. I have the dual image chip from him with 93oct and C16...who whould run C16 and not run over 25 psi??? I hope this is wrong becuase If i have to scrap all this shit and order link im going to be pissed. Hell I plan on running 27 PSI on 93 oct and Meth injection while having fun on the streets.

Actually link doesn't solve that problem either. Your C16 flash will allow you to run more boost because the timing is reduced on the top map.

I believe he was a little over 28 psi but either way Bastard dsm's galant is badass. oh plus that was with 750's and a 255 intank i believe.

Yea and he beats on that car everyday. He deffinetly gets that galant going. I think his is having clutch problems right now though or he would have ran at our recent dyno day.

Anthony its Alex(A.D.D.) from the local board. and with the chip your timing on c16 should not be reduced, you should actually get more timing added in with the higher octane.

wow, my name came up for this turbo.....nice. well the turbo is good but i wouldnt push it too hard. i found that out the hard way, these thing fall apart at high boost levels. at 20psi or so i made 400hp
and at 24psi like 425hp.they hold 25psi really well and i had cams(280's) and it held till 7500rpm.

ha ha, if your planning on running 30psi or more, you dont need a wastgate. i hade a 24lbs
spring in my tial 38 when i was running this turbo and i could only get 28psi max. with the car gated
it was 23-24psi,so for pump 20-24psi and on race or whatever fuel your going to use disconect the vac
line.

So there is not that much lag with the TD06 wheel. That was my biggest fear about using it, I dont want a turbo that takes forever to spool up.

tdo6 wheel is still a small wheel, it wont be laggy at all. i have a fp3052 right now and i still see full boost around 4k (30psi) but im using a 2g head and evo3 intake manny now.

Later Dr Turbo
Ummm.....Later

....if your planning on running 30psi or more, you dont need a wastgate.
That's the reason I came up with the Holset internal actuator to replace the Mitsu actuator. The Holset actuator's spring should permit me to reach 28psi or so...if not, I'll probably tack the flapper shut and see what it'll make. The engine will be able to take whatever I throw at it when it's all said and done.

There are a handful of guys making 28psi using shimmed Mitsu actuators on standard Evo III 16G's; of course it tapers off to 23-24psi by redline. My 18G is essentially the same as an Evo III with a slightly bigger compressor inducer; same turbine with a 10* clip.

My turbo is the opposite of laggy. This thing spools pretty damn quick and puts your ass in the seat. By 3100rpm I reach about 12psi. By 3500rpm I'm at 15psi. And somwhere between 3700rpm and 4000rpm I am above 20psi. It is a great turbo for the best of both worlds. Great spool, and pretty good top end.

i have an fp18g on my stroker with an o2 dump, i only see 25psi until around 4500rpm, then it slowly falls to 17psi at redline. You guys think its the stroker suckin more are then the 18g can give or do i need a stronger wastegate?

I think it's a little of both.

If you're using a stroker, a Mitsu-flanged turbo seems to really neck down the exhaust's flow potential and the engine's ability to produce power in the higher RPM's. The same is true for 2.0's with 9.0:1+ compression.

A buddy of mine experienced this first-hand with his built 6-bolt running a SCM6031E with an internal gate. The Precision Mitsu bolt-on turbine housing only allowed the 60-1 compressor to flow a peak of 48-49 lb/min, and the boost slowly dropped from 30psi to about 26psi as the RPM's climbed. He then swapped to a .82 a/r T3 turbine housing and cast T3 manifold / external gate setup....the turbo produced almost 10 lb/min more peak airflow, and the boost stayed rock-steady at 30psi. No other changes were made.

EDIT: Sorry didnt mean to thread jack. Ill just send what I wrote in a PM.

No Problem. :thumb:

I can't wait to throw on that wastegate.

Just thought I would update this. I threw on the Holset wastegate actuator and I'm now running 24psi no problem. It probably has more in it but I have not been able to hook up the laptop and go for some runs. This thing is a completely different animal at 24psi.

awsome im glad you got it all figured out. Now it wont be long till you feel like you need more power. :)
