^ ^ ^ ^....apparently hasn't read the 200-some pages of Holset info on this forum.

I just bought a brand new HX40 for $469- that's cheaper than a freakin' Evo III 16G, makes more streetable power than a GT35R, and it's rebuildable.

And i heard about this great guy that's very very very very good in rebuilding turbo's. The name of the guy is justin aka "jus".

In fact, i sent him my hx35 to be rebuild and slap on my Bolt on BEP turbine housing

It received Garrett T3 journal bearings and turbine seal, and a Mitsu thrust plate, oil collar, oil deflector & shield, and compressor seal. The turbine housings are already cast from a ported MHI turbine housing, so not much porting was needed. I opened up the throat a little about 1-2" down from the inlet, then smoothed everything out nicely. The wastegate flapper felt a little loose on the arm for my taste, so I went ahead and tack-welded the flapper in place to make sure there are no future issues. The wastegate hole was also opened up a little to prevent the pesky boost creep issues from 12-18psi, and I set the tension properly on the adjustable actuator.

This turbo should be ready for the long haul.

is that joyfil's ebay 20g? what kind of rebuild did you do to it? so does this mean it's as comparable with the real MHI 20g now?

Sadly, no. The MHI 20G has a lighter compressor wheel and turbine shaft assembly, so this turbo will still spool slower and not respond as well between gears as a MHI 20G.

I'm sure reliability will be improved, but then again this turbo had a heap of miles on it when it was sent to me and it would probably still be boosting fine today if it wasn't for an oil line malfunction.

Yeah I am extremely happy with the 20G Justin rebuilt. I was going to install it today but the weather isnt letting me, hopefully tomorrow then. Cant wait to see what it does.
