Hi there, Im building a 600whp daily driver and im looking at turbo options. Came across a FP hta88 thats a good price, and i was wondering how well this would work out in a DD. I was looking at an HX 35 or 40, but the 88 is dual BB, and leave me room to grow. anyone have any reviews on it?
Thanks!

yepp, they had the option when they were first released to come with a dual BB CHRA, but they stopped shortly after and went to JB only. Thats apparently why they stopped making them all together. I could be wrong?

Gotcha- I wasn't aware they were ever available with a ball bearing CHRA. To my knowledge the HTA88 was just an old FP 3575 with a billet compressor wheel.

Post some pics if you can so I can help you I.D. it and make sure you're not getting ripped off.

By the way- this turbo's going to be an absolute pig on a daily driver.

I'm running an HTA86 on my car, it's not "daily driven" but it certainly could be, I drive it on the street 90% of the time it does get driven.

The spool up is a little on the slow side, but not sure about you I don't need insta-boost while driving down the street to work. I usually hit 35psi by around 5000. And can certainly net you your 600whp.

There are not many turbo's that will be able to make 600whp and not be a least a little laggy.

yea but they are sooooo expensive. Not too happy with FP's pricing lately. I remember about 2 years ago I bought a 68hta for $815, now there 1300 or so.. FP is doing something wrong..

It is probably just the cost of materials in that industry. I forget how supply and demand works LOLROFL:rocks::D

Very late reply here, sorry for not getting to this sooner but the fuel consumption on my logger says ~450hp. This is not verified by a dyno. 2.0L @ 30psi.

Also, I'd like to mention that mine is not a jb turbo... and it's far from an "absolute pig" on the streets. Full boost is around 4500-4700rpms.

Still DD'ing the car w/ the same HTA88 on it, no reliability problems whatsoever, still runs just as good as when I installed it. I see my last reply was 2 years ago so I just wanted to give an update saying this turbo has got plenty of room to grow. I've been running it at 18psi since my Talon is my only running car right now but it was living happily at 32psi before when I had multiple running cars.

Of course I don't know how useful this will be to anyone since you probably couldn't find an HTA88 even if you decided it was right for you. FP and Tial's Xona Rotor stuff looks good and will probably be what I buy when I get something bigger.
