These are the recommended springs for use with the FP3 camshafts. They provide the necessary spring tension to avoid valve float with the highly aggressive camshaft profile found in the FPCam2x, FPCam3, and FPCam3x. We recommend installing these springs in the 1.480" to 1.500" range for best results. See individual camshaft descriptions for more specific installation height recommendations. This kit includes Ti retainers, dual springs and dual spring seats. These springs do not require any machine work to the head to install, unlike some HD racing springs require.

Are you having the shop do the complete install or just the springs? It definately shouldn't cost $600 to replace and shim the springs if thats all they are doing. But if they have to remove the head and everything than it seems alittle more reasonable...all be it still high. The springs could need shimmed but they should check the install height when they replace the springs. If they do need shimmed it's implied that its included in the price of the spring swap. All else it will cost is the price of a couple $.25 shims. Good luck.

The shop is doing the complete install with the head on. He is telling me that in order to keep the correct tension for the spring with these cams they the springs need to be shimmed. I talked to one of the techs from FP and he told me they only need to be shimmed if going above 8k rpms. This shop says they have to measure the proper tention in the spring when shimming it, thats why it will cost so much.

There is no tension to measure, all they need to do is set the valvespring installed height. There is no way that should cost $600, I would find another shop.
