Using a brass fitting in this location is not the best idea, I tried using a brass nipple and a regular 'T' to do this and after a month of engine bay vibrations, the nipple cracked and broke. Fortunately a new oil pump and set of bearings is all I lost over that adventure.
 
I just installed the forward facing oil filter housing from FFWD and I'm concerned with the oil pressure sending unit's (sensor at the bottom of the T-fitting seen in 2GeNTSi's last photo above) location. It sits very low and seems vulterable. Has anyone who is running this setup had any issues with the sensor breaking off? Is there another way to run this where the sensor is in a better spot? I thought about swapping it with the oil light sensor but its too large & hits the housing body.

If you crack the fitting that we have available, it's due to over-tightening it or hanging a really heavy aftermarket sending unit off of it. The thick brass unit is going to be stronger than the aluminum housing.

If using *any* aftermarket sending unit, you want to remote mount it using a SS braided line, regardless of the use of a "T" or using the port in a singular fashion as the aftermarket sensors tend to live a short life due to vibration when mounted directly to the engine.

Same thing applies to the mounting of the stock one if you feel it's hanging too low. Simply use an isolation kit to remote mount it like this:

Typically, one will use either the OEM gauge unit and a turbo oil feed, or an aftermarket gauge unit with the oil feed. The use of both an aftermarket gauge, the OEM oil filter gauge, and the idiot light switch is highly redundant.

I was debating on using "right stuff" RTV since I've had great luck using it on the thermostat housing to head surfaces, but I went with the OEM paper gasket. I just made sure to thoroughly wipe it clean of oil, then degrease it with brake cleaner (oh, and torqued to spec). I'll report back if I have any issues with leaking this weekend when I get to drive it again for the first time in about a month.

Please do *NOT* use the tube type RTV on oil gaskets, especially this one or the oil pump itself. If you do, you have to be VERY careful to only use a VERY fine coating on the gasket. I've had to replace people's engines due to builders using a liberal amount of this. When the gasket is compressed, any excessive RTV is pushed out both on the outside, and on the inside where it can restrict or completely block off critical oil ports.

Correct way would be to replace the gasket ($2.00) and if you want a little extra sealing protection use a light coating of the spray gasket sealant (bonus is that it will hold the gasket in place during assembly) such as:

They also make a Copper version to use on gaskets that see higher temps which works well.

The only place I'll use tube-type RTV anymore on these cars is on the Valve Cover (in the corners), transmission casings, and when beat up, the copper on the exhaust manifold/turbo housings (although I prefer to deck them flat when possible instead).

I see tons of cars come through the shop where the tube style stuff is used as a band-aid all over these cars--typically leaking in the same areas.

So after reading through this whole thread I am a bit confused, are you or are you not able to use an aftermarket oil cooler like the following?

I ask because i am currently running a cooler like this but will need some more room around my Down Pipe so am considering switching to the front facing housing.

With the standard 6 or 7 bolt forward facing housing, there are no provisions for an oil cooler.

As for other options, it would depend if your 2G still has a 7-bolt or a 6-bolt as to what options you have.

If it is a 7 bolt, you could switch over to the Evo 8 oil filter housing and still run a cooler.
