1G Flaring stock fuel return (to tank) for AN fitting. Tips?

From what I've read, the fuel return on the firewall is Steel. The soft line I have going to the return has a plastic insert and I can't just clamp it on. So another -an fitting is where I'm going.
Will this work for the return line---- fitting
Recommendations for flaring and cutting tool? ( Somewhere like Menards/Home Depot)

I used an -AN to tube adapter for mine. It’s a compression fitting to fit the steel line with AN threads on the other end. Put a hose end on your hose and just thread it onto the adapter.

AN to 5/16 barb fitting like the pic below? (3/8 may work as well) IMO, it would be much cheaper and easier than go with some kinda special fitting.

What size AN on the steel side? I know it's smaller than 3/8ths.
