So I installed a new motor in about 1 week ago and finally resolved a lot of issues I had. now I am in the start up stages of the motor. I'm just wondering on a brand new motor something that doesn't have oil in it or anything is it normal for it to be loud like lifter ticking and what not? I know my friends new motor was very loud on start. It took about half an hour of idleing for it to quiet down. So i'm wondering if everyone else has encountered this same thing?

Mine is very loud right now and I am just kind of concerned. It's not like a loud knock or anything but it's just very loud with lifter tick etc. Lol

What?? I assume you filled the engine with oil ? You need to make sure you have good oil pressure so run the engine at 2000 rpm or so for the first few minites then shut it off and look for any leaks. I like to heat up the engine then let it cool so the cooling system will equalize. This also gives time for any drips to show up. Tres...

Yes I put in Castrol GTX 10w40 with 4.75 quarts as required. I also have normal oil pressure on idle according to the stock gauge and what not. so Its just loud right now I'm just concerned. Just wondering if this is normal

It is normal to be very loud initialy when you first start it. The oil pressure should come up strong and the lifters stop ticking after a short while. Sometimes one or two lifters will tick longer but should stop if you keep the engine reved for awhile. If you have been driving around already and it's loud you better check it out. Tres...

No actually I haven't been able to drive it due to the first start up I saw a massive oil leak on the front case side and on the turbo oil drain tube. I fixed those and now I started it up and it just sounded bad but I imagine that due to this motor not having oil in it at all that it takes awhile for everything to fully get coated correct? So with that being said I guess I am just being over paranoid about it

Did you pull the MPI fuse and crank the car over for a little bit to get the oil primed before you started it?

How much run time does it have on it now?

Yes I did that first before I attempted to start it. To make sure the oil pump was primed up and it was :thumb:

So you put more oil in it right?

Yes I did i was down a quart from all the oil that leaked so I bought 2 quarts and put one quart in ran the motor than I rechecked to make sure it was at the proper levels.
