lethbridge,
hey guys, i'm not new to the DSM world but i have one question. k my car has been sitting in my garage for 2 months now without running. (the ECU had to be replaced) so now i have a new ECU and i did some body work and enging bay cleanup, and now its going to be ready to start in a few days. are there any precautions i should take as to prevent any internal damage to the engine as its been sitting for so long? i've had the fuel rail out so i coud get it powder coated so there is no fuel charge in the line. i've heard rumors that your supposed to prime the engine or turbo if you ever run out of fuel or depresurize the fuel line. is there any truth to this or have i got it wrong? should i put a tsp. of oil in each cylinder so its not starting up dry? just trying to take care of my pride and joy. thanks guys.

You may have to crank it over a couple extra time but you shouldn't have anythign to worry about as long as you have everythign hooked up correctly. If you are that worried pull the plug for the injectors and coil and crank it over a couple times then hook them back up and start the car up as you normally would.

Also, when my ECU went I flooded the engine by trying to start it over and over. You might want to do a WOT start (it tells cpu the engine is flooded).

Yes, sorry, I ment wide open throttle. A bit of oil would be a good idea too (to restore compression after flooding it. Take a sheet of paper roll it in a cone and you have a funnel)..

just to be absolutely clear, what is a "WOT" start?

what??!!! I dont' give a #### or not if I am drunk writing this but you should not add antyhig to the cylynders through the spark plug holes. Like I said in earlier posts just disconect the injector harness and the coil plug and cank the car a few times oil presure will be built up and everythign will be fine.

let your fuel system cycle a few times/turn the key on (not crank)you will hear the system cycle/ turn the key off and wait 15 seconds then turn the key on again an do that 5 times, this will prime your fuel system...you cant prime the oil system under cranking conditions(the motor does not spin fast enough)the worst thing to do to a motor is sit there and let it crank and crank and crank etc.if the car dont start in the first 5 cranks, something is wrong...crank the motor 5 times then let it sit for a few seconds then repeat...dont step on any pedals...the ecu does that for you...just turn the key...good luck
