My head gasket popped the other night and I am going to dig into my engine for the first time. I've done just about everything to my car except any internal things, so i wanna make sure i do all required things. I searched and got most of my questions answered except these. I am going with OEM non mls and arp studs.

Which gaskets/seals would be recommended besides head gasket, valve cover gasket, cam gear seals and water pump outlet ?

Will the ziptie mehod and lock the tensior in reset be ok instead or redoing timing?

what would be a" good "manual for this.( I searched on here but didn't find any that were clear) I remember a great breakdown log but i can't seem to find it. I have the dsm cd/ manual but I like having multiple manuals to look at.

my question is what all are you planning to do to the head?
first it needs to be checked for warp

if it was ran hot you will want to have the head pressure tested for crack.....

if it passes than.. then it will need to be surfaced..
Do NOT let the machine shop belt surface it...

I read where you said a NON-MLS, so a composite gasket.. thats fine.. but this will apply to a point, the RMS finish will not be this smooth . but look about the same.

you may want to do this oil mod before the head is surfaced...

do you plan on doing a valve job?
or a spring swap since the head is off?

Thank you very much for the info. I am waiting on some money to come through so i may be able to go ahead and get cams and possibly springs/retainers. I have been scanning the classifieds in case someone has a good built head already to go. As far as vale job that's also pending the money I'm waiting on.
