There must be a problem with either your methods or your equipment.

Did pull off and store your stock rom before you started playing around with Ceddy's?

There was nothing wrong with my methods or my "equipment". I have Ceddy Mods working now and it is working because of the File that Ed posted.

There is only 1 Rom On Ceddy's website that contains the Def and Rom that actually has Ceddy Mods on it that is the free version.

Yes I stored my stock Rom, I am not stupid so do not try to make me look stupid.

Taken from Ceddy's website, This is the ROM I originally tried that would not work.

98 Eclipse GST – EM2055

ROM -> 20550010
DEF -> 20550010 <-Updated 7/17/09

ROM -> 20550011 <-Most Updated ROM
DEF -> 20550011 <-Updated 7/17/09
* For the sake of simplicity the 20550011 DEF will also include CeddyMod and Speed Density DEFs. Only use the CeddyMod or Speed Density options with the appropriate ROM.

I mean gees, Look what it says ^^^^^^^^^^.

Easy big guy. No one is trying to make you look stupid.

One guy suggested that you used the incorrect ROM, which we all know to be false since you can see ceddy options or whatever. And for this you've now mentioned twice how you know how to read and that it's so obvious which files you're supposed to use, blah blah. Get off it.

And yeah, looks like there was something wrong with your equipment if the file you had didn't work and your new file works fine. Wasn't it you who suggested it might be your equipment in the first place? Good thing it was software and not hardware, no?

I was legitimately trying to help you. I didn't know you had already resolved your problem. I'm glad you have it working.

I thought I might have had an issue with my "equipment" but that was not the case.

When I first started doing this I read my stock Rom from My ECU and saved it.
I then downloaded the Definitions file and the Rom from Ceddy's website and flashed that to the car and it never worked.

I even tried re downloading it a few times and it would never work.

I am not sure where or when Ed got his file but it may be possible that he downloaded it before Ceddy Updated his website as we know his site was recently updated.

I do not mean to sound rude and if I did I apologize but there was nothing wrong on my end that I could Find. It was something to do with the File that I downloaded and the other user that downloaded the same file his did not work either.

I downloaded the file last summer. Its the 20550011 file. I highly doubt he neutered the free files. He would only lose business everytime someone downloads the free files to try it out.

I think the problem is wrong definitions or the wrong rom file.

Same file I downloaded from Ceddy's website.

I didn't read this whole thread there was way too many pages but will the 98-99 flash-able ecu work with 95-96 crank and cam sensors?

Go to the top of the page right under the page numbers in the carbon fiber look black header. Click "Search this Thread" and type in 95 CAS.

Here's what you'll find as one of the results.
Which CAS setup do you have? The 95-96 inverted CAS and Crank Trigger setup will most likely give you issues.

You can turn off the P300 Misfire CELs in the Periphery Bits, but if you are getting real misfires that most likely won't help.

You can install a 1G Black Top CAS, thats what I run without any problems.

Nah I wasn't trying to suggest you didn't know what you're doing, or to come off that way. I've downloaded that rom on several computers for some locals around me to get them started and never had a problem. Like he said we was just trying to help you out. Glad it's working for you now.

Hopefully nobody deletes this ROFL

My 99 gst black box puter has a leaky capacitor and I need a new one. If anyone has an extra computer laying around, shoot me a PM ... I really need one.

I'm going to do my best to fix my board. Several of the relays have rust around them ... a couple of traces appear to be burnt ??? It even looks like someone got flux happy on part of the board. ROFL

Holla at me if you can help. (thank you in advance)

You can easily fix leaky caps. As for the extra flux, just wipe it down with rubbing alcohol.

Yea, I would still like another computer to have laying around though. They seem to be getting harder to find these days.

I don't know if this was the cause of several of the weird problems I was having
i.e. the car throwing a speed sensor code and the speedo working, knock sensor code with a new knock sensor (yea, I tested everything as much as I could) as well as an injector circuit light ... pulled the computer and found it in bad shape.

What are the roms/ecuflash defs for??? I am trying to get started with this, but what are those for when you are given a ceddymods file to begin with when you download one of the versions (free-$30 big map/sd)? I have the xml and roms in the directory for a 98 GSX, and i can see the maps. What are they for???? Help a noob starting with ecuflash.

I am putting a 99 ECU and 1g CAS in my 96 GSX. I thought I read that I can just leave the crank sensor alone and just swap the CAS. The guides I saw show cutting the crank wires and just use the 1g CAS/crank.

Can someone clarify this for me. I would like to be able to just leave the stock 96 crank sensor if I can.

That should be fine. The issue you're working around is the inverted signal that your stock CAS puts out, since it is not what the flashable ECU wants to see. Leaving the stock crank sensor is a good idea, might help you avoid the random misfires.

Just make sure you use the correct white wire from the 1G CAS to connect to the blue wire on your wiring harness's CAS plug. Tape up the yellow one. Then just match red to red and black to black when wiring the CAS to CAS plug.

Ya, I had looked over the diagram, but it is showing how to set it up using the 1g as giving the crank sensor. So what should I do to leave the 2g crank sensor? Would I then use the red and black wires from the 2g CAS plug?

AH, I see now, haha.

Awesome. Ya, I wanted to leave it for the misfire issues some people had, and this will just make it easier switching over. Why does anyone get rid of the 2g crank sensor anyways?

EDIT:

Is it just me, or is there a phantom page 30 here?

The roms are just files full of information. The definitions are instructions for ecuflash to know where to find each piece. That's why each rom has its own definitions.

So when you have the cables and want to start tuning, you read from the ecu and save the original tune (just in case) and flash the ceddymods file you are given onto the ecu? Thanks for the help.

Does anyone know if you can use any j2534 programmer along with ecuflash and evoscan for flashing and/or logging such as the GM MDI scan tool its a usb passthrough device, rather then buying the 2.0 cable?

The tactrix cable does use j2534 and I've had limited luck with it doing basic obd2 fuctions on other vehicles, so there is a little chance of it working with evoscan. Ecuflash I doubt it. Because ecuflash is made by tactrix.

So the tactrix 2.0 and mitsu reflash connector will be the best bet then i suppose correct?
