Ok so i had to get a new head due to a hole in the valve.. so everything is back together tonight, start it up, and its a real loud tapping coming from the head. what could this be? the head looked almost brand new when i intalled it, the timing on the tbelt was double checked 4 times before starting...\

Would the CAS being off timing cause the valvetrain to make a loud tapping sound?

is this a new head, or the one that came off the car, either way are the lifters in good condition and is plenty of oil getting to the top end. just a quick thought, maybe something to look into

How long did you let it run? If you only let it run for a short time you may not have given the oil enough time to reach the top and quiet the lifters. How often is the tap? Constant or sporatic? Double check the alignment marks on the timing belt and make sure you lined up the right ones.

when i put on the head everything looked very new, i double and tripple checked the timing, ( even had some one come help that knows .. thx bojangles racing ) if the timing was lined up on the wrong marks it would idle horrible... its a constant ticking... i think its because i have 5w30 oil in it and not 10w30

Does your oil pressure come up on a gauge? Did you line up the marks on your oil pump as well? I would make sure the oil pressure is up to par then you will know if it is the timing or lack of oil pressure causing the noise.

the oil pressure looks fine, its low ar idle like always and goes in the middle when driving

I would say the lifters. Where they soaked prior to installation? And are they new? IF not new the get a set of 3g lifters. IF they are new and wheren't soaked then let it run for a few mins they should quiet up.
