Alright, so I was driving my car after replacing the clutch in it last night, and I noticed from the low rpm's to about 3K that there was a loud tapping noise coming from the top end of my engine, and its definitely audible from inside the car. I just put in revised lifters about a month ago, and I remember it making the same noise before and after the lifters. Any ideas?

Could be the hydraulic tensioner assy. They like to go bad and will cause a tapping noise like what you're describing. How long has it been since the timing belt has been changed? When changing the timing belt you need to make sure to replace all the rollers and pulleys along with the hydraulic tensioner assy and of course the water pump too. Good luck!:thumb:

The only video camera I have is on my phone, and trust me, it would not help you guys on here in the least. Haha. But I JUST changed my timing belt when I dropped in my motor about 5 months ago, along with a waterpump, and all my rollers and pulleys, bit i didnt change the hydraulic tensioner, it seemed like it had alot of life left in it. But it does make sense because theres more slack in by timing belt than I'd like, but nothing too bad.

Do you have adjustable cam gears? If so check to make sure that the bolts are tight ive seen them come loose and make it sound just like a lifter tic or valve tapping.. then I would check that timing is on.. U could have jumped time and be off a tooth or half a tooth. It's happened to me about 5 years ago on my first timing job and it sounded similar to when putting in 3G revised lifters on initial start up. Good luck

I don't have adjustable cam gears, no. I wish! Haha. But I do believe that my timing might be a little off, looks like I'll have to go see if everything checks out once I get back from school.

Ok make sure the cam gear teeth are flush with the head. I use a piece of cardboard with the straight edge of the cardboard or thick paper to make sure that the cam marks are indeed flush and straight across from eachother. Stick the straight surface behind the cams to check flush with head then to cam gears. I would advise not to drive it unti you have verified that timing is dead on.
